Nova and Elektra were playing chess. A rare sight, the two of them getting on as they were (for others to see) but the game had only commenced since Nova was tired of Elle boasting about how she beat Frank and was therefore the chess master, and Nova had decided to challenge her to a game to put her in her place. And it was working; Nova was winning, and Elektra was sulking, accusing her opponent of cheating. Nova would be lying if she said she wasn't satisfied by putting Elektra in her place. Just as Nova took Elektra's last pawn, Tracy handed Elektra a parcel.
"Is it from a secret admirer?" The raven-haired care worker asked, trying to see what was inside. Nova sat there watching, intrigued. "I'm going out." Elektra announced, forgetting about the game of chess as soon as she had seen what was inside the package. Nova stood, trying to get a good look at its contents. She glimpsed at a shiny silver coil. "Kinda looked like a snake?" I said towards Tracy, who just shrugged and stood there. "I'm going out too, if that's okay?" The small girl asked, picking up her jacket and looking to her favourite care worker for approval. Tracy nodded, and grabbed her jacket too. "Y'know what, Nova, I think that's an excellent idea. Come on." She smiled, opening the front door for the girl. Before Nova left she grabbed Elektra's skateboard and smiled, stepping outside.
Since Elektra had been teaching Nova to skate, she'd picked up the hobby quite well, though she could only skate in a straight line. She skated slowly along the pavements as her and Tracy followed Elektra through some neighbouring estates and towards the same park Elektra had taken Nova to during her first few days of being at Elm Tree. Nova smiled fondly at the memory, but frowned as soon as she remembered the circumstances. When Nova, Liam, and Elektra had ran away together for that week, both Elektra and Liam had bonded over their troublesome past with the law, and Nova vaguely remembered mentions of gangs. Nova had a bad feeling about what Elektra was up to.
Tracy put her hand out to stop Nova from skating past, as the care worker had located Elektra. Nova picked up her skateboard and the pair hid behind some bushes, close enough to eavesdrop, neither stopping to question the ethics of their actions.
"So what happened then? I'm banged up for six months and you don't even call?" The brunette sat next to Elektra on the bench exclaimed. "I didn't think you'd want to hear from me again." Elektra admits. "That's stupid." "When did you get out?" Elektra asks, but Nova didn't hear the reply due to Tracy's fidgeting. "Have you seen any of the others?" Elektra asks, and Nova tries her best to piece together what this means. The brunette told Elektra that the old gang was history, and Nova's heart sank. Before Nova could process who the mysterious brunette was and what it meant, Tracy came out from their hiding place and began talking to the girls. "That's good to know." Nova stands too, panicking slightly, and joins Tracy. Elektra stands up in what Nova assumes to be both astonishment and annoyance. "What are you doing here?" "Just passing, aren't we Nova?" Tracy looks to the girl beside her, who seems to have halved in size. This felt all too much like confrontation, and Nova hated that. The girl just stood there blankly, looking at Elektra. "I'm tracy and you are?" "None of your business." Elektra spits, turning to the girl, "She works at my care home." Tracy interjects just as Nova's heartrate increases. "So in a way it is my business." The sass Tracy has would at other times amuse Nova Parks, but right now Elektra was acting a lot like the old Elektra, and not the nice Elektra Nova had befriended, and even started to develop feelings for. This was just another reminder that crushing on people was dangerous. Nova's thoughts began to spiral and she barely registered the exchange between Elektra and Tracy. "Oh nice earring. Matching pair. Snakes aren't they?" "I'm Kali. Old friend of Lex." the Brunette replies, snapping Nova back into the conversation.
