The next morning, Nova found herself being woken by the morning sun gleaming through her blinds and resting upon her bed. She didn't, however, find herself being woken by the noise that often accompanied the younger members of Elm Tree House, and for that she was thankful for, despite the ungodly hour nature had pulled her from her sleep.
With the day free to do what we she pleased, Nova decided she would spend her time exploring the new city she would soon call home. She dressed herself in baggy jeans and a striped blue tank top which she covered with a grey flannel shirt. After making sure her makeup was good enough for anyone she might run into out and about, Nova braided her hair and made her way down the stairs to the kitchen for her morning coffee.
Upon entering the kitchen, Nova found her favourite care worker, Tracy, sitting at the table with Johnny, Carmen, Frank, Liam and Harry. The girl thought the gathering was odd, but took no notice and proceeded to boil the kettle for her precious energy boost. Over the noise of the kettle, Nova worked out that Tracy was telling them off for exchanging chores, and consequently banned the swapping of tasks. The soft clunk of the kettle signalled that the water had boiled, and also signalled Johnny's overly dramatic exit from the kitchen, presumably to his room to sulk.
The careworker, already stressed despite her shift at The Dumping Ground having only started an hour prior, sighed, and finally acknowledged Nova's presence with a soft but reassuring smile. "Good morning." she greeted, to which Nova replied with a "Mornin'" and a raise of her mug accompanied with a nod of her head. This made Tracy laugh, momentarily distracting her from the realisation that Nova wasn't having real food for breakfast, but a singular coffee. "You should have some breakfast, Nova." Tracy suggested. Nova nodded, and with that Tracy left, having too much going on to worry over whether Nova did in fact so as she was told and eat something (she didn't).
As Tracy left the kitchen, Nova was left for a sweet second of solitude before Liam wandered in, his head buried deep into Tracy's book. Nova smiled mischievously and, taking advantage of Liam's trace, put her coffee down and jumped out in front of him. "Boo!" she laughed, her hands going to his shoulders for extra shock value. "Jesus, Nova!" Liam exclaimed, jumping out of his skin. "If that was anyone else you'd be dead right now. Consider yourself lucky." he warned, a sly smile etching his way onto his blushing face. "Still haven't sold them all then?" Nova asked, removing her hands from Liam's shoulders and picking up her coffee again. The boy shook his head and sighed, "Can't even give them away." Nova laughed and drank her coffee.
Once she'd finished with her coffee, Nova made her way towards Mike's office, mentally preparing herself by going over and over what she was going to say. She knocked on the door after a deep breath and found Gina sat at her desk scowling at some paper work. Gina looked up st hearing the door open, and her scowl morphed into a warm smile upon seeing the small ginger. "Hiya love, you okay?" She asked. Nova nodded and replied, "Yeah, I just wanted to know if it'd be okay if I went out for a bit? To explore the town?" "Yeah, sure. Do ya want Tracy to go with you? Or I could ask Sapphire?" Gina asked. Nova violently shook her head, "No, it's okay, I'll be fine." Gina told Nova to be back by dinner time, which gave Nova just over six hours to herself. Or so she thought...
