CHAPTER TWELVE: good luck boy

"Pinch punch, first of the month!" Nova laughed, punching Liam hard in the arm. He was stood in the front doorway with the others, lazily resting against the archway as if he owned the place.
"Ow!" he moaned, dropping his casual stance.
"What are we looking at?" the ginger asked, going on her tiptoes to try and see past Liam and Gina. Liam moved out of the way and pushed Nova in front of him, his hands on her hips. She flinched at the touch, but calmed down when she realised it was just Liam.
"Tracy is trying to drive." he chuckled.
"If you can call it that." Nova laughed. She removed his hands off her waist and went back inside.
Johnny and Toby were in the office on the phone, so, wanting to know what was going on, she wandered in.
"What's the sunshine state?" Toby asked frantically.
"Happiness?" Johnny dumbly replied.
"Florida." Nova called.
"What opens doors in Florida?" the woman on the phone asked.
"Battering rams." Johnny suggested.
"Keys, you numpty." Nova replied, sitting on the desk, "You do know this is probably a scam, right?" The boys told her to shush.
"The Florida Keys." Toby said.
"Correct, your final question is: what reptile was found in the Florida keys for over 200 years?"
Mike and Gina came into the office so the boys frantically ran to the cupboard, Johnny pushing Nova along.
"Crocodile." Nova suggested.
"Alligator." Frank insisted (he was right).
"Congratulations, you have won a free family holiday in Florida!" the woman said down the phone, to which Nova rolled her eyes.
"Gosh you're so lame." she muttered, leaving the cupboard.

Liam had called Nova into the lounge to play pool, where the pair had begun to discuss their plan at actually getting the free holiday they had won.

"Okay, so everyone knows the plan?" Liam asked, taking a shot.
"I can't believe we're actually going through with this." Toby muttered.
"This is forgery. We're so gonna get done." Johnny said, to which Nova scoffed.
"Relax, Johnny. We can just play the care kid card, say we we're missing our families and wanted something nice to look forward to." Nova shrugged as if it was the obvious answer.
"There, Nova's got the idea!" Liam smiled.
Elektra then walked in and everyone filled her in on the plan.

Nova and Elektra were working on distracting Mike and Gina whilst the others talked to Terri, the woman off the phone.

"Nova! We have a problem!" Toby ran into the girl's room, followed by Liam, Frank and Johnny.
"Elektra? I thought you two hated each other?" Liam asked, noticing the blue haired girl sat casually spinning on Nova's desk chair. The two had been hanging out in Nova's room; Nova had tried teaching Elle to play the guitar in exchange for Elektra teaching her to skate, but Elle had got frustrated quickly, so now they found themselves listening to music and idly chatting. Elektra was grateful it wasn't Tracy who had found them enjoying each other's company.
