Nova had started to develop a routine now: every morning she'd wake up around six and make her way downstairs for a cup of coffee. After she had drank her coffee, the red head would return to her room until lunch, if she was lucky enough to get away with that.
As Nova returned to the sanctuary of her room, a cup of steaming coffee in her hand, she heard hushed whispers coming from Lily and Carmen's bedroom as she passed. Naturally, the girl stopped just outside the door and began to listen to what was being discussed in such a hushed and secretive tone.
It turned out that all Lily and Carmen were discussing was the fact that Lily and her sister's were getting fostered today, which Nova already knew. The whole house knew, probably even the whole street because Lily talked about it that much. Though today, Nova heard some hestotation in her voice that suggested Lily was anxious about being fostered, which Nova couldn't blame her for. Nova had never had the chance to be fostered, so she'd never really thought about how she'd feel if she was. Nova contemplated this as she made her way back to her room to enjoy her book and cup of coffee.
At eleven, Elektra knocked on Nova's door and told her that she had to go say goodbye to the "brats" known as Poppy, Rosie and Lily. Nova leapt up from her bed and walked down the corridor side by side with Elektra. They didn't say much: Nova could hardly fathom a coherent thought with Elektra's presence so strongly behind her. The girl did remember that Elektra still owed her skating lessons though.
Elektra, Nova, Liam, and the rest of the residents all gathered around outside to watch the three girls drive away. It occurred to Nova, as the car drove away, that all three girls were named after flowers, much like how both herself and her sister shared middle names with the stars (Nova, Andromeda)... The girls' mother had died when they were young too, leaving them in the care of their unstable father, which was exactly what happened to Nova and Liliana. Except, Lily's father was still alive, and now Lily was reunited with her family and didn't have to care for her little sisters anymore. Nova wasn't that lucky, and maybe she resented Lily for that.
Carmen began to cry at the loss of her best friend, so Nova retreated to her room to clear her head. Nova had just began her first attempt at sketching Tracy using the photo of the care worker that was on the front cover of Tracy's book, before Carmen burst into her room, with no warning, carrying the hoover. When Carmen saw Nova sat at her desk, eyes glaring at the girl, she ran back out of the room, taking the hoover with her. "Knock next time!" Nova called after the girl, confused as to what just happened.
On her way down to lunch Nova passed the door to Johnny's room, as she always did, except this time the door was open so Nova peered in to find Johnny stood in the middle of his room surrounded by mess. The hoover was spilled everywhere and there was crushed chalk smudged into the carpet. "Did you do this?" Johnny accused, angrily. "Yes. I trashed your room, immediately felt guilty and now I've come to apologise." Nova replied sarcastically. "No I didn't do it! but I think I know who did... Come on let's get some lunch then I'll help you sort this out." Nova offered, to which Johnny nodded and followed her into the kitchen.
