Esther's POV
I opened my eyes. It was already 11 a.m. I don't know when I fall asleep.
The last day's memories came to mind. There is no need for me to unleash everything yesterday. No one is going to believe me. They think that I am lying. I have no proofs to provide.
I went to the bathroom. The mirror showed my current appearance. My eyes are puffy and red. The face is miserable. I look like a mess.
"Esther... Esther... ", I heard Wil calling my name.
"I am in the bathroom, man", I shouted from the bathroom. Maybe he was worried about not seeing me on the bed.
" Okay. I will take your breakfast here", he said. I heard the door closing.
I stood under the shower. Cold water calmed my racing heart.
I wore fresh, comfortable clothes.
Wil came to my room with a tray full of food. I dried my hair and sat on the bed.
The food looks delicious. I started to dig my plate.
"How is the food? I made it myself," he said proudly.
"That is why it has a bitter taste ", I smiled at my brother.
"Then don't eat," he said as he took the plate from my hand.
"Heyy, I was kidding. Your foods are the best", I take back my words and the plate.
"You told me my food tasted best", Mom came to my room.
"Oh, mom. Of course yours tastes best", I said to mom.
Wil shook his head.
"Where are you going? ", I asked to mom.
"We ran out of things, so I am going to the market. Does my baby want something ", she asked, putting her hand on my head.
" Chocolates. What else?" Joy said. It was true. I love chocolate, and I want it now.
"No chocolates ", mom warned, and she walked out of the room.
I pouted at her.
"It's okay. I am also going with her. I will buy chocolates for you," Joy said, kissing my head.
"Thanks, Joy, you are the best ", I said to him.
My brother gave me a special look to joy. Yeah, he forgot to kiss my brother.
"Sorry," Joy said, kissing my brother.
"Don't forget me, love," Wil said loudly.
I looked out of the window. There was a car parked in front of our gate. It was Aaron's. He was standing facing our house.
"What is he doing in the morning here? ", I asked.
Wil looked out of the window.
"Morning? He has been there since last night", he answered.
"What? ", I was shocked.
"Yes, Esther. He came last night," he confirmed.
"Tell him to go ", I said to him.
"I said that last night and this morning, but he said he wouldn't leave until he saw you," he said, taking my cup.
"Then let's see how long he will wait ", I said, chewing the food.
Time passes. I often looked out of the window. He was standing in the same place.
"Es" Wil came to my room.
"Wil, call Aaron inside," I said to Wil.
"Thank goodness. If you were not willing, then I was going to call him inside ", he said, heading out.
It is evening now. How long will he continue to wait there?
"Es" Wil let Aaron inside.
"You two talk." He closed the door after giving Aaron a sharp look.
"What do you want to talk about, Mr. Hilster? ", I asked him with less interest.
"Esther.. I.. ", he was not making any sense.
"Tell me, Mr. Hilster, I don't have much time. I need to find my new boytoy", I said to him.
"Esther, I am sorry ", he replied.
"Sorry for that,", I asked.
"Sorry for my behavior. I was mad at you when I heard the love you showed me was fake ", he admitted.
"Really?" , I asked.
"But I lost my control when I saw you with him. You two had a past," he continued.
"Yes, we had", I was not stopping.
"Esther, I was afraid of losing you", he said.
"Feared of losing me. You should be happy to lose me. A murderer ", I talked back.
"Esther, you don't know how much you are hurting me. I know you never kill anyone ", he stated.
"You believed me", I was confused.
"Yes", he admitted frankly.
"Did you run a background check on me?" I asked.
"No. I believe your words", he said. Can someone believe others words?
"You believe the words of a murderer ", I asked.
"You are not a murderer," he was shouting.
Believing me was not a normal thing for me.
"I want you to be with me, Esther. Till the end of my life ", he said, holding my two hands.
"What are you talking about?" He can't be serious.
"I love you, Esther. I loved spending time with you. I loved all your cute acts. I love everything about you", he said.
"No", I said, pulling my hands away from him.
"You don't like me. Are you still mad at me, or is it because of our age difference ", he asked with a sad face.
The tears started coming again. I don't care about his age.
"You are a top businessman in the country. You should find a capable partner for you. I am a damaged one", I said. It was my insecurity. I never loved any man because I felt I was not enough. I lost myself at a very young age. The trauma and nightmares are still haunting. It will be difficult to take me as a life partner.
His entire demeanor changed.
"Stop it, Esther. I don't care whatever you say about me, but don't you dare say anything bad about yourself," he shouted.
"It is.", I can't form the right sentence.
"I have never seen an amazing girl like you in my life. And I am sure I will never find Whatever your past is, it all made you strong. You are what I wanted, Esther,", he said the sweet words, sincerely looking into my eyes.
"Mr. Hilster,", I said, but he stopped me.
" Aaron. Call me Aaron, my Es,", he said. A smile formed on my face.
