I was awoken by the loud repetitive knocks on the door that echoed through the house. I was getting increasingly annoyed as it added onto my headache.

"Omi the door," I grumbled, shaking him. As a response, Ominis groaned and turned his back against me, going back to his deep slumber.

With my hair all messed up and my eyes still woopy, I went down to answer the door.  To my surprise, my sister stood there so confidently whilst smirking down at me.

"Good morning to you too," she laughed. "Merlin you are lucky you married a blind man,"

I rolled my eyes at her comments revolving around me, Ominis and my marriage. That didn't matter to me. What did matter was her standing on my front porch with her child.

"Anyways, my husband and I are going to be away for a little while, and I cannot be seen with this little devil, so have fun!" she smiled whilst almost smirking as she shoved the shy little girl into my arms, along with a small bag with her clothes.

The door closed in front of me, leaving just be and my niece confused and somewhat shocked. I felt bad at the way she was being treated by her own mother.

"Oh you sweet girl," I sighed as I gently caressed her plump cheeks. "Mildred, how would you love to meet uncle Omi?" I smiled.

She slowly looked up at me, nibbling at her little fingers before shyly nodding at my question. I smiled as I gently carried her up the stairs and to the room Ominis and I shared.

"Omi, we have a visitor," I whispered. Mildred sat on my lap as I sat next to Ominis. He grumbled gently as he tried to ease back down to his sleep. I sighed before leaving tiny pecks along his cheek. It took him awhile to finally smile at the touch of my lips. "Good morning Omi, we have a visitor," I giggled before gently moving his niece next to him.

She gently held onto his arm while slowly shaking it, almost begging him to wake up. "C'mon Omi, we don't wanna upset the little princess," I smiled. "My, my who do we have here?" Ominis grumbled gently while chuckling at the same time. "Uncow Omi, wake up," Mildred finally spoke. I suppose it was there that Ominis finally got the hint.

Ominis gently sat up and looked at me questioningly. "My sister just dropped her off," I explained. "Look after her for a bit, I have to get ready,"

Ominis looked at me awkwardly. I knew that he wasn't too experienced with children and if I'm being honest, so was I. But after awhile, I saw Ominis trying his best. He gently played with her as though she was a baby puffskein.

"Alright, how about some breakfast?" I asked as I exited the bathroom. Mildred eyes lit up at the mention of food, and she was quick to crawl towards me, but turned to Ominis with her arms spread out. "Up, up," she said, grasping her hands at Ominis. "She's waiting Omi," I giggled.

Hesitant, Ominis gently picked her up. She was quick to lay her head on his shoulder while still nibbling on her fingers. I couldn't help but stare at them in awe, as Ominis gently held her in his arms.

Mildred was swinging her leg's all-throughout breakfast while she enjoyed Ominis' pastries. It was so funny watching Ominis trying to entertain the little girl.

"And for my wife," Ominis smiled as he placed a cup of coffee in front of me. "Thank you," I smiled while he placed soft kiss onto my cheek. "Am I doing good?" He whispered. "Very good," I whispered back before kissing his hand.

"Milly, is there anything you'd like to do today?" I asked. Mildred shrugged swiftly before going back to nibble on the pastry. "I know just the thing," Ominis grinned cheekily.

That afternoon, Ominis carried Mildred on one arm, while the other held onto my hand. We walked down by the lake to which glittered under the shining sun. Nearby, was the big oak tree that shaded the picnic setup Ominis had strategically organised.

Ominis knew that I genuinely loved picnics, his pastries and reading by the lake. This time though, it wasn't the picnic that made my day, it was the fact that we looked like a happy family, enjoying the weekend.

With her tiny little hands, Mildred traced Ominis' face, but focused more on his milky blue eyes. "Pretty," she pointed out as she gently patted his eyelids. "You think so?" Ominis asked, which she nodded in response. She couldn't help but adore Ominis' eyes.

"What see?" She asked. "Would you like to know what I see?" Ominis asked. "Close your eyes, and listen to the world," Ominis began.

Out of curiosity, I followed too. I leaned on Ominis' shoulder as I closed my eyes. Devoid of sight, I could hear the birds chirping from afar, the gust of wind and the small splashes of water as it meets the ground. Most of all, I could hear Ominis' soft breaths.

After awhile, I opened my eyes and found Mildred sleeping as she laid on his stomach. "She's fast asleep," I giggled. "I think she most definitely enjoyed spending time with you," I added.

Ominis was silent as he smiled. I could tell he adored it. He gently brushed her hair with his fingers before leaning his head on mine. I heard him let out a sigh before leaning away from me. "What's wrong?" I asked. "It's just that...did it ever bother you? Having me by your side as 'the blind friend' and now 'the blind husband'?" He asked curiously. "No, the way you saw the world always intrigued me. Besides, I enjoyed dragging you around.
Ugh you have no idea how much I just wanted to kiss you all those years ago," I giggled.

Later that night, Ominis stood with his back pressed up against the door frame while I sang Mildred a sweet little lullaby. She was a cute kid, and nice too. I couldn't begin to comprehend why and how my sister  saw her as a devil. She was anything but that.

"Why are you smirking?" I laughed as I looked at Ominis. "Nothing, just a funny thought came to mind," he replied. I smiled as I wrapped my arms around his neck while I looked up at him gently. "Is that so?" I asked. "I can't help but picture how good of a mother you'd be," He explained. "And you as a father. A perfect family, me thinks," I smiled. "My dream family," I added. "Is that so, my dear wife?" Ominis smirked before placing a kiss on my lips. "'Tis so," I replied sweetly. With that, Ominis pulled me by the waist and to the bedroom.
