HeavenLeigh POV
6 months later
"Wanna say hi to daddy?" I said to Honesty as I pulled up to the gravesite.
"Yeah" She said.
I got out the car and opened the backseat, pulling her out, and she stepped down from the car.
I grabbed her hand and shut and locked the car door with the other hand, and we walked down the grass to get to Roddy's gravestone.
Everyday is a process.
This is a different type of grief. But.. God has an assignment for me through this time. I call it a pruning process.
And I know I'll be alright, and Honesty will be too.
We walked up to Roddy's headstone, and I squatted down.
"Hey Roddy" I said. "Brought baby girl with me" I added.
Honesty just looked at the stone and she frowned a bit.
"It's okay baby" I said holding her. She's four and a half and understands death somewhat.
She doesn't understand why death happens, but she knows for a fact that she'll never see her dad again.
"Hi daddy" Honesty said.
"We miss you." I said as I ran my hand across his stone.
"But Honesty's fine, I'm fine, I check on your mother periodically. So.. We're making sure everything's running smooth" I said.
"My daddy told me to keep putting God first" Honesty said.
I looked at her and said "Yeah?"
"Yeah" She said.
"When did he tell you that?" I asked.
"The same day that he left.." She said.
Basically the same day he died.
"Wow" I said.
I'm glad he gave Honesty some gems before he departed from earth.
"Anything else you wanna say to your daddy?" I asked Honesty.
"No.." Honesty said. "He left me.." She mumbled.
I looked at her for a moment before I sighed.
That made me really sad hearing her say that.
"Honesty no.. He didn't leave you. Okay? He's in your heart" I said.
"But I wanna see him" She said.
"I know.." I said.
"And he took that away" She said.
I have a feeling as she gets older she's gonna be very angry about the way he passed. Because it seems as though she has resentment towards him already.
"Your daddy loved you Honesty. He just.. He had issues that he felt like he couldn't escape. And that's not your fault. It's nobody's fault." I said.
"But you and him always said it was important to face issues" She said.
Whew.
My child is young and smart okay?
"Yes.. But unfortunately, he couldn't take his own advice." I said.
She didn't say anything, she just looked at the headstone.
"I wanna go home.." She mumbled.
"Okay, say bye daddy, love you" I said.
