AMANDA

"OKAY SPIT IT out." A frown creased my brow at the odd request.

"Spit what out?" I asked.

"There's obviously something going on with you so why don't you just spit it out already." Still confused, I kept quiet, my eyes never leaving hers.

"You know exactly what I'm talking about. You're hiding something Amanda. It's written all over your face." The only thing that had been all over my face had been Kyle. Although I refrained from saying that out loud, that didn't stop me from thinking about it.

"See?! Right there." I instantly dropped my smile

"See what? Mildred will you stop beating around the bush and just say clearly what you're talking about."

"I'm talking about the stupid smile that's been on your face the whole freaking day. We deal with some of the most horrific shit here at the hospital. Which means that there aren't that many reasons for you to be smiling like that. So you're either a psychopath or someone really made you happy last night. I mean really happy."

I choked on my breath. I had never noticed it before, but Mildred had an unfiltered mouth just like Lisa. It was no wonder the two of us got along quite well. She reminded me of my best friend.

"It must have been pretty damn good."

"Okay stop saying that. Nothing like that happened, so just cut it out." She wiggled her eyebrows suggestively.

"Are you sure?" I rolled my eyes, swatting her arm.

"Of course I'm sure." She sighed giving me a once over. With a straight face she stared at me dead in the face.

"You sorted things out with SP didn't you? I could tell." I had no idea what she was talking about. Mildred had a very strange way of addressing some things sometimes.

"SP? What the hell is that?" I asked, my confusion genuine.

"Your sexy pedophile of course. I know because the last time I saw you two together you were ready to burn him alive but now, now it's a whole other different story." I choked on my breath. Horrified by the name.

"Oh my God. Stop calling him that. That's really disgusting." She smirked.

"I bet you don't find Kyle disgusting." I had no words so I simply stared at her.

"No need to feel shy. You've been giving him the glassy eyes all morning. There's obviously something going on." There wasn't any judgement in her voice but I was aware just how our relationship would affect us. Mostly Kyle and I had no intention of putting his career at risk. No matter how much I wanted everyone to know he was mine. For however long he was willing to have me.

"Nothing is really going on I promise. Kyle and I... it's complicated but there's nothing between us. I admit I did have a crush on him growing up but not anymore." She gave me that look that told me that she clearly didn't believe me. It was too early for any sudden rumours to spark so I panicked when I realised she still wasn't convinced.

"Besides, I dated his brother a few years back. Trust me, I have no intention of bouncing around between brothers." Her eyes widened as if she was suddenly believing me.
