KYLE
SOMETHING WAS WRONG with Amanda. Confidence looked so sexy on her but the determination marred on her face was misplaced. After last night, things would be different. After that kiss. That mind-blowing, nerve ending kiss. I laid in bed all night thinking about it. I wasn't ashamed to admit I had always known being with her would be like that.
Everything about her made my blood heat up in ways that drove me utterly insane. She drove me utterly insane. I lay in bed reminiscing about that kiss but for the life of me could barely muster one shred of guilt.
Entertaining those dangerous thoughts was a terrible thing to do on my part. Especially after breaking the one promise that made me stay away from her all those years. It had been hard back then. But it was nearly impossible acting like she didn't mean the world to me when she was but a breath away. I was done listening to that voice in my head.
To be bound in a promise that ruined both of our lives. Destroying the most sacred bond we shared. I was ready to fight for her. It was about time I did. My heart sank when I thought of Samantha. It wasn't exactly about her but someone else.
I shook my head dispersing of any such thoughts. It wasn't important anymore. The stupid grin on my face stayed put till I parked my car at the hospital parking lot. A car parked right next to me a few seconds and my smile widened when I zoomed Amanda.
I hastily unfastened my seat belt and jumped out of the car.
"Please for once try to pick me up at the right time Lisa." Amanda said to a girl on the steering wheel.
"I will try." The girl replied with a smirk like she was lying. Amanda huffed in annoyance, the two of them getting out of the car.
I rounded the front of the car and watched as Amanda and her friend looked me up and down. My heart did a summersault at the hungry look in her eyes. She quickly looked away soon after. Strange.
"Now here's a reason to come here on time. Who is this handsome devil?" Amanda frowned as her friend continued her not-so discreet appraisal of me. For once I felt like I was the steak.
"I'm Doctor Kyle Griffin and you must be the friend that's always late to pick her up."
"Oh you're a doctor? I'm her one and only friend Lisa. Girl they make them like this now? I better get admitted more." I slowly turned to Amanda watching her looking everywhere else but me.
"Amanda."
"Kyle."
Lisa looked from me to Amanda her eyes widening with recognition.
"You're THE Kyle aren't you?" Suddenly I was scared. It gave me immense pleasure to know Amanda told her friend about me, but judging by the murderous stare I was receiving it wasn't mostly good things.
"I'm not sure if I am THE Kyle but yes, my name is Kyle." Lisa took a step towards me and dug her finger in my chest.
"You're an asshole."
Yep, that I am.
I deserved to be called worse names. She swung around grabbing Amanda's hands in hers.
