KYLEI PULLED MY FIST BACK, each punch landing with a resounding thud on the suspended punching bag. I was happy for the distraction it provided. I loved the feelings that enveloped me as I pushed all my frustrations on it. The only thing keeping it almost upright and not across the room was the unpleasant person who had a firm on it. Well at least it was firm enough.
"You definitely punch like a girl." I sighed while wiping the sweat off my face with my gloved hands.
"What did I do to deserve this? What sin have I committed lately? It has to be big." I was definitely paying for lying to Amanda. That had to be it. But my punishment couldn't be any worse.
"You missed me. I know you did." Jason said as he held the bag as best as he could. It was a wonder he wasn't flying across the room right now. The man was all limbs. Okay fine, that wasn't entirely true. Our body build was almost the same. His was on a leaner and shorter side while I stood tall and bulky.
He had showed up on my doorstep just as I had been about to head to the gym. The upside to having a home gym was the easy access to it at all times of the day. I had just changed into my workout clothes when the doorbell rang. I had skipped to open it with the hopes of it being Amanda. But imagine my surprise and horror at seeing my brother with the biggest smile on his face. With a bag! Again!
A few hours later here we were. Burning some much needed steam. Sweat was dripping from all over my body into the hard floor. I was exhausted but I kept pushing myself. I didn't want to bury myself with worry but I just didn't like how my conversation with Amanda ended.
The last time we had spoken was when we shook our hands like we were just regular colleagues after our meeting. She barely said two words to me after that. It was understandable. I would feel dejected if I heard her say the same things to someone else.
I pulled my gloves off my hands and finally sat down on a bench, taking a swig from my bottled water. Jason eyed me suspiciously. He had kept on talking nonsense the whole time we were working out. The guy dressed black like some sort of ninja. Had scars and tattoos, even face piercings but talked like a diva. He was a walking contradiction. More like a talking one.
He looked like a ganster until he opened his mouth.
"What's got you down anyway? You've been sulking and acting weirder than normal today. So what's up? I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Amanda because that seems to be the problem when I'm here." I sighed, watching him gulping down his water. If I couldn't talk to my own brother then what was the point of having one.
"I think I screwed up really bad. It's probably in my head but I think Amanda and I might have broken up." He spit his water directly on my head.
"The fuck man." I said wiping it off.
"No hold up. What do you mean when you say broken up? Is that like a code name or something? You guys fought that's what you're saying? And you aren't talking anymore. Why would you guys even be broken up?" I gave him a funny look.
"What's wrong with you? Breaking up happens to those that are dating. And we're dating."
"What the fuck?!"
The water bottle fell into the floor with an exaggerated sound. I pulled my feet away with a huff as the water made a trail all over the place. He didn't even look fazed when I righted the bottle and glared at him.
