A Part That's Missing

Four years had passed since the fateful battle that decided Inazuma's future. Yet, things in the Kamisato estate had stayed the same.

"Summer's just around the corner, right, M'lady?" Thoma said after he opened the windows to let some air in.

"It'll probably be a hot one too." Ayaka nodded.

"Not that you'll have any problem with it," Thoma grinned, "Your Cryo Vision will keep you cool during the afternoons."

Things stayed quiet for a bit as Ayaka signed some documents and Thoma cleaned up the office a bit more, his eyes lingered on a small framed portrait of Kazari that sat on the shelf where a fresh batch of Sakura Blooms rested next to it.

"Hm... Thoma?" Ayaka said after a while.

  "Yes, M'lady?"

"Didn't you need to see Tetsuya today?"

  ".... Ah! I did! O-oh! I'm late!" Thoma exclaimed.

Ayaka laughed slightly, "See you later then, good luck."

"Thank you, M'lady! I'll be taking my leave now!" Thoma turned and his knee hit the corner of Ayaka's desk.

"Are.... are you alright...?" Ayaka creaked her head to take a glance.

"Yes..." Thoma nodded as he held his knee, "Haha.... bye M'lady..."

                                                                                  ...

"Ah, Thoma! You're late!" Kiana exclaimed.

"Sorry! Sorry!" Thoma laughed, throwing on an apron, "I was in a match against Tetsuya."

  "Did you win?" Itsuki asked.

"No," Thoma sighed, "I was really close though! Ah, that reminds me, you lost against him just last week, right, Teacher?"

"Yes... perhaps that means I should start being completely serious when I fight against him." there was a dangerous glint in Itsuki's eyes.

"Let's hope Tetsuya survives then." Thoma wore a nervous grin.

Once breakfast was finished, Thoma moved to the bathrooms where he chatted with Abdiel while cleaning them.

"Asagiri asked Sharar if she wanted to be head of attendants and housekeepers the other day." Abdiel said.

"What? Can Sharar be the head?" Thoma questioned.

"Nah, I think Asagiri was joking, she can't retire yet anyway," Abdiel shrugged, "We went to Kazari's grave yesterday though."

"Ah... really? I should go with M'lady sometime." Thoma stared off into the distance. Four years ago, they had received a letter from Yae Miko about Kazari's passing. Ayaka was in pure disbelief, Abdiel's mind seemed to have completely left his body that day as he continued working, and Sharar cried for what seemed to be days.

When they went to her grave for the first time, they saw the Traveler and Paimon there, paying their respects. Traveler had told them the entire story about how Kazari died, they gave Sharar the mask that her friend always wore and ever since then, Sharar kept the mask hanging from her waist as an accessory.

"You should," Abdiel agreed, "Once Lady Ayaka finishes all of her work maybe."

"That's true, maybe I should go to her office and make sure she's okay..." Thoma nodded to himself, his hand went down to his chest where he would usually fidget with the dog tag necklace that Ayaka had given him, when he noticed that nothing was there, Thoma looked down to see where it was.
