Ayaka sat in a chair as Thoma rummaged through the First-Aid kit, she had cut it during their battle in the cave to the point where the blood had dried.
"I completely forgot about it." Ayaka laughed softly, Thoma poured wound cleanser on a cotton pad and began to dab it on the wounds, she instinctively pulled her hand away.
"Ah! I'm sorry M'lady!" Thoma apologized.
"O-oh! No! It's alright!" Ayaka reassured, "That was my fault."
"I'll be done in a few minutes." Thoma continued wiping the blood and cleaning the wound, he pulled out a bandage and began to wrap her hand.
"Thoma, that won't be necessary, the cut's not bleeding anymore." Ayaka reminded.
"Just in case, okay M'lady? You never know after all." Thoma said simply and tied it into a small bow.
Thoma put away the First-Aid kit as Ayaka looked at her wrapped hand, she then glanced at his chest.
"How do you feel, Thoma?" Ayaka asked, when Thoma turned to look at her, she tapped her chest so he knew what she meant.
"It doesn't hurt," Thoma smiled reassuringly, "When it happened, I thought I was dreaming."
"Did anything happen while you were being healed?" Ayaka questioned, "Did anything seem off?"
"Hm..." Thoma thought about it, he looked down at his fingers.
"Your role isn't done yet."
"Nope!" Thoma lied, he shook his head, "I'll have to thank Lady Sangonomiya when I see her today."
"Us both." Ayaka nodded.
...
After Thoma had jumped to save Abdiel, he could hear nothing, only silence. But when Thoma opened his eyes, he opened them to see pure darkness.
"Am... I dead?" Thoma turned around and saw no change, "Ah.... did I really die? Of course I did... I did take a bullet for Abdiel..."
Suddenly, the room got bright. Thoma covered his eyes and then slowly blinked, adjusting them to the new brightness, and looking around again. Surrounding him were transparent bodies that had no faces were defined features.
"You're not dead."
"Not yet."
"You aren't done."
"Why go this far if you were just going to die? "
"Think about who you want to protect."
The bodies spoke as their faces slowly came into view. Immediately, tears welled up in Thoma's eyes.
"L-Lady Kamisato, Lord Kamisato." Thoma bowed his head, "Am I dreaming then?"
"Hm... who can say, maybe we're just fragments of your consciousness appearing before you. Maybe you're on the thin line between life and death."
"Eh? But you said I wasn't dead." Thoma pointed out.
"Yet." Lord Kamisato corrected.
"Thoma, you need to open your eyes," another familiar voice, "You've come so far."
A single teardrop fell off Thoma's chin as he realized, appearing before him was his mother.
"There's someone else." Isa pointed.
