"Wait, so you're saying that your mom is alive in some kind of mirror dimension?" Wally asked after Jesse had brought him, Kira and Dinah up to speed on the new developments.
"Yeah and as of right now, I have no idea how to get her out, but she did give me a way to go after my dad in a legal way, though it does involve Kira." Jesse said.
"What do you need?" Kira asked.
"According to my mom, my dad lied about who she left the company to in the event of her death. I'm the one she named as the heir to the McCulloch fortune and McCulloch Technologies, which means that my dad plagiarized her will. And I'm no lawyer, but I'm pretty sure that's illegal. But I need proof. As in, I need a copy of her real will, and I need you to hack into whatever government database you need to to find it." Jesse said.
"Done." Kira said.
"Maybe we should also consider bringing the police in on this? After all, I'm all for finding out the truth, but something tells me that this won't hold up in any kind of court of law, since we didn't obtain the will legally." Dinah said.
"And I'd agree with you if my dad wasn't one of the police department's biggest donors." Jesse said.
"Well, I think I know one cop there we can trust. We just need grounds for an investigation." Dinah said.
"And I think I know what those grounds can be." Wally said.
"And what might that be?" Jesse asked.
"It's what you said the night I got home from Central City. Your dad was way too well prepared to launch his takeover attempt of the company to not have been planning it for a while." Wally said.
"You think that'll work?" Kira asked.
"I'm no lawyer, but I am the son of one and a cop. I know a thing or two about the criminal justice system." Wally said.
"Fair point. And I agree, I think this is at least a place to start. I'll reach out to my contact, see if he can get the ball rolling, but even if we do, Jesse will need a hell of a good lawyer in case things go to court." Dinah said.
"My mom can handle that." Wally said and Jesse nodded.
"Okay then, let's get to work." Jesse said, eager to see the look on her father's face when she did to him what he did to her.
Dinah smiled as she entered the Keystone PD precinct and saw her contact sitting at his desk.
"Well, well, Detective Thawne." Dinah said with a smile as she walked up to Detective Eddie Thawne.
"PI Dinah Drake. What brings you here?" Eddie asked.
"I need a favor from you and it's a big one." Dinah said.
"What do you need?" Eddie asked.
"My client Jessica McCulloch and I have reason to believe that her father falsified her mother's last will and testament." Dinah said.
"Dinah, that's one hell of an accusation to make and I hope you have evidence to back it up, since I can't go after this man based on your word or the word of a daughter who wants revenge against a parent who forced her out of the company." Eddie said.
"You don't believe me?" Dinah asked.
"No Dinah, I'm positive that there's something crooked about Joseph Carver and even if I wasn't, I've worked with you enough times to trust your instincts. I'm just telling you how this would likely play out in trial." Eddie said and Dinah nodded.
"The whole reason Jesse hired me was because she suspected that there was something off about her father suddenly taking control over the company and this drive contains everything I've found and I think it's enough to launch an investigation into him." Dinah said as she handed Eddie a drive that he quickly plugged into his computer.
"Well?" Dinah asked after Eddie finished going through all her evidence.
"I think I need to tell my captain that we need to pay a visit to Joseph Carver. I'm also going to get a warrant and a court order for Eva McCulloch's attorney for the real copy of her will." Eddie said and Dinah grinned.
"Thank you Eddie. I owe you one." Dinah said.
"Well, I think I know a way you can repay me." Eddie said.
"And that would be?" Dinah asked.
"Agree to go get drinks with me after this is all over." Eddie said, shocking Dinah.
"Are you asking me out, Detective?" Dinah asked, flattered.
"Just as friends." Eddie said.
"Well, how about you let me think about it and then once this case is wrapped up, ask me again and we'll see where it goes." Dinah said and Eddie chuckled.
"Deal." Eddie said.
"And Eddie, be careful. Jesse told me just how much her father donates to his department, so we don't know who we can trust." Dinah said.
"Understood." Eddie said as Dinah left the precinct.
