"Mom, is that really you?" Jesse asked as she looked at her mother, stuck in her mirror.

"It's me Jesse." Eva said.

"So, I'm not hallucinating?" Jesse asked, needing to be sure.

"It's me, my little Jesse." Eva said and Jesse smiled.

"How is this possible?" Jesse asked.

"You can ask your father and uncle." Eva said.

"What uncle?" Jesse asked, since as far as she knew, both of her parents were only children.

"My brother Evan. The reason you never knew about him was because we had a falling out after I inherited the family money and he got nothing, which was our parents' choice, not mine, but then he turned to a life of crime and I didn't want anything to do with him. But one thing both he and your father had in common is that they wanted me out of the way." Eva said.

"Without you, dad gets the company and apparently Uncle Evan gets the money." Jesse said.

"Exactly." Eva said.

"That still doesn't explain how you ended up in my mirror and on a different topic, how often do you peek into that thing?" Jesse asked, wondering just how much her mother had seen.

"Relax, I only just started being able to reach out to you like this, so I haven't seen anything and even if I could, do you really think I'd want to see my daughter having sex with her boyfriend. Don't worry, I haven't seen anything." Eva said and Jesse wasn't sure whether to sigh with relief or roll her eyes.

"Back to my first question, how did you end up in this mirror?" Jesse asked.

"Your uncle was apparently in Central City when the Star Labs particle accelerator exploded, which gave him some kind of connection to this mirrorverse." Eva said.

"Wait, are you saying that reflections are basically showing us some kind of alternate dimension?" Jesse asked.

"Jesse, not the time. I'm not sure how long I can keep this connection." Eva said.

"Right, sorry. Are you saying that dad had Uncle Evan trap you in there?" Jesse asked.

"That's exactly what I'm telling you. And I have no idea how to get out." Eva said.

"Well is there anything we can do to get proof, get dad locked up?" Jesse asked.

"No. Your father might not be as smart as you or me, but he's no idiot. He would've made sure to cover his tracks. But I wanted you to know that I'm still alive and that you need to be careful. I saw your father antagonize you and he's likely going to retaliate in a very dangerous way. Especially since you're the only thing standing between him and our family's fortune, since not only did your father sign a prenup before we got married, I also changed my will after you were born so that you'd be my sole heir." Eva said.

"Wait, dad said that you left everything to him. He even showed me your will." Jesse said.

"What? That son of a bitch, he plagiarized my will and stole your inheritance from you." Eva said.

"And now I know where to at least start looking for a way to take him down." Jesse said.

"Please do, but Jesse, be careful. Your father has already become a dangerous man and if you corner him like this, he will become a dangerous animal and he will lash out." Eva said.

"I can take care of myself." Jesse said, knowing that it helped that her boyfriend was a speedster and her best friend was a highly weaponized cyborg.

"Still, be careful." Eva said as the image began to shimmer.

"Mom, what's happening?" Jesse asked.

"I'm losing my connection." Eva said as she placed her hand on the mirror and Jesse placed hers on top of her mother's.

"I love you Jesse. Never forget, of all the things I've created over the years, you're the best one. And despite what I think of your father, the one good thing he ever did was help me bring you into this world." Eva said as the tears in her eyes were reflected in her daughter's.

"Mom." Jesse said, but the image cut out before she could finish her statement.

"I love you too." Jesse said before making a silent vow to herself and to her mom that she would do whatever it took to bring her back and put her father behind bars for separating them.
