We last read Chapter 13, in which Sledge's son Geode reunited with Coldsnap, Keena, and Firebird in the Firelands after tirelessly working and completing to pass all of his parent's tasks. Luckily, he passes with flying colors, but when two more ice mages arrive and alert the group of two major disasters going on on Earth—an attempted Hoover Dam breach and the assassination of the U.S. President. Geode and Coldsnap promptly split off to deal with both of these threats, coming out on top in both instances.....meanwhile, Firebird and Keena step through the mysterious sixth portal terminal and find themselves in the lost region of Skycrest, currently floating around limbo and not friendly towards outsiders; their leader, Commander Windsor Galeforce, ordered that they are to both be captured and brought to his tower for an unknown fate. This time, Coldsnap and Geode attempt to reunite with them, but may find themselves face-to-face with a brand new foe altogether.....

-Royal London Hospital, London, England-
The gravely-wounded, unconscious President of the United States laid on his back on a moving hospital bed inside the Royal London Hospital. He was placed on a ventilator, an intravenous needle---to deliver vital fluids into his system---had been placed into his left arm, and his formal suit had been replaced with a surgery gown. At his side was a team of six medical workers clad in light-blue scrubs and masks, four members of the Secret Service, and Wallace Weiss himself, with everyone hurriedly rushing to the operating room.
Though Coldsnap's timely arrival had warded away Typhoon and the rest of the Storm Sect assassins, she still only arrived after the convoy had already been attacked and the President's SUV was flipped over.
"Mr. President! Mr. President, can you hear me?" Weiss whispered into the unresponsive President's ear. When he received no response, he instead looked at one of the medical staff, making sure to keep eye contact. "Is he going to be okay, ma'am?!" he asked worriedly.
"He's still alive," she answered. "But we'll need you all to wait outside while we get him into surgery."
Before Weiss could ask anything else, the President and the medical staff disappeared behind a pair of large double doors with "OPERATING ROOM" in huge red capital letters above them, leaving Weiss and the four Secret Service agents behind.
Between the political fallout as a result of the Louvre Museum bombing and the attempted assassination of the President of the United States at the hands of "French mercenaries", Wallace Weiss wanted nothing more than a well-needed rest. But he was one of the President's top confidants, and to abandon him now would be a violation of his mission; to ensure the President's well-being and ensure that nothing else happened to him. Additionally, no one knew it, but between the President's attack and his hospitalization, Weiss had started harboring an incredible amount of guilt for failing to warn him of the "French mercenary" assault in time.
Instead of leaving the hospital and returning to his own personal SUV, Weiss ordered his four agents to secure the area immediately outside the operating room before grabbing a chair and stationing it directly outside the double doors. Then, he sat in it, drew his pistol, and stood guard.....or "sat" guard, as one might see it.
If anyone wanted to get to the President, they would now have to go through him.

-Firelands, Elemental Realms-
Following both of their successful missions---Geode foiling the attempted bombing of the Hoover Dam and Coldsnap "saving" the President from being killed by the "French"---the duo then met back up with each other at the entrance to the Firelands; specifically, the top of the ramp that led to the entry portal.
