We last read Chapter 36, in which Firebird successfully infiltrates the Royal London Hospital in an attempt to confront both the President and his advisor, Wallace Weiss.....who is actually a spy for the Storm Sect by the name of W.H.R.R.L. Incapacitating the security detail surrounding W.H.R.R.L. and the President, she manages to expose W.H.R.R.L. as a traitor and engages him in battle while the President flees the area. Though she manages to defeat and kill W.H.R.R.L.—and convince the President to call off the nuclear strike against the Russian border, thus averting World War III—Firebird then promptly collapses from her injuries, causing the hospital's staff to urgently start attending to her. This time, we watch as Coldsnap and the full might of the Mage Aspects attack Skycrest in order to topple Commander Windsor Galeforce and his right-hand woman, Typhoon, to ensure that they can never pull off something like this again.....

-Skycrest, Limbo-

Upon looking out at Coldsnap and the Mage Aspects overrunning the capital, Galeforce's fists clenched at his sides. In hindsight, he should've expected this. Not only did he flood their capital, but he also orchestrated several attacks on Earth.....which was the exact planet that these "Ascendant loyalists" cared for to no end.

He turned to Typhoon. "Take some of the Storm Sect mages and guard the lobby," he instructed. "Defend the elevator that leads up to my office."

Typhoon's eyes widened. "What?! No! I want to stay with you! Looking out for you is all I've ever done!"

"That's an order, Typhoon! I can handle myself, trust me. But if this city falls.....it could be the end of the Storm Sect as we know it."

Though Typhoon was initially very reluctant—especially considering her true "feelings" towards him—she ultimately agreed, taking a few seconds to share what she thought would be her final hug with him before departing down the elevator to secure the ground floor lobby.

Now alone, Galeforce walked to the massive, now-shattered windows at the back of his office; windows that overlooked the entirety of the capital city of Skycrest. He concentrated and shut his eyes for a moment, then held his hands out and opened then again, with both his pupils and both of his irises glowing. His hands began behaving similarly, and, at his command, sporadic bolts of intense lightning began raining down on the city below on every street that didn't have Storm Sect mages on it, further adding to the chaos.

It was arguably the biggest battle that the Elemental Realms---or any of the alternate dimensions---had ever seen....and the Ascendant hadn't even arrived yet. Though all of the Mage Aspects and their allies took part, there were a few moments that particularly stood out.

Sledge and Geode covered the area directly around the tower, clearing the path for Coldsnap and the others. The two of them rolled down the streets at high speeds, expertly swerving and dodging to evade any lightning bolts or electric blasts hurled their way. They mowed through their enemies like blades cutting grass, with their high mobility and durability---at least while in their ball forms---making them difficult to take down.

Soon, they came to a crumbled building with a few piles of rubble around it; an earlier casualty from Keena's massive flood. While Geode stuck to the ground, Sledge deviated from him, rolled up one of the piles of rubble as though it were a ramp, and soared skyward, managing to land directly on the back of a storm dragon that had swooped low in order to try and deal with him and his son. The storm mage riding the dragon was so distracted with keeping the beast in the air and on its proper flight path that he didn't notice Sledge boarding, "un-curling" himself back to a standing position, and sneaking towards the front.
