We last read Chapter 37, where Coldsnap, Keena, Sledge, Geode, and the combined forces of the Mage Aspect factions officially begin their siege on Skycrest to topple Commander Windsor Galeforce and Typhoon once and for all, that they may stop them from ever trying to instigate a third world war on Earth again. We watched as Coldsnap's fellow mages, their allies, and even her adoptive family and friends put in the work, taking down Galeforce's men left and right using their own respective gifts and skillsets. Ultimately, Coldsnap manages to take down all of the storm dragon riders patrolling the capital and make her way inside Galeforce's spire for the final time.....but is intercepted by his right-hand woman, Typhoon, inside the first floor lobby, accompanied by several Storm Sect mages and air elementals. This time, we witness the fateful duel between these two adept warriors.....at the end of the day, who will come out on top?

Coldsnap got a running start, then sheathed her longsword and encased herself in a durable ice ball with numerous, creepy-looking spikes around its exterior. She rolled around the entire lobby as though she were some kind of "ice porcupine", taking out a good chunk of Typhoon's backup right off the bat, much to her initial satisfaction. However, an air elemental charged a blast of lightning in its right "hand", reeled back, and shot an electric stream forward at the ice ball, shattering it and leaving the heroine exposed once more.
"Oh, come on.....I was having fun!" she complained jokingly as she promptly went on the offensive. "Fine. If you want me to stop holding back so badly, then take this."
She took out her sword and split it lengthwise into its two halves---dual-wielding it once again---before going to town on her foes. Making her way towards Typhoon, who was standing in front of the two now-chained doors leading to the elevator, she blocked an overhead strike from a storm mage's staff with both of her half-blades, then spun in a circle---slashing two more enemies across the chest in the process---and impaled her original foe with one of the blades before taking the weapon back out.
Coldsnap threw one of her half-blades right through the chest of another mage halfway across the room; though this rendered her with only one blade for the time being, this did not make her "defenseless" by any means. She ducked down low to avoid another lightning blast from an air elemental, then as she rose back up, she shot an Ice Harpoon from her glowing left hand right into an enemy a few feet to her left.
But it wasn't anywhere near over. The other half of Typhoon's backup then joined in, alongside Typhoon herself. The Storm Sect warrior joined her cutlass's hilts together once more and rapidly twirled them around in a circle, creating the same high-speed wind tunnel she had used a couple of times before. And, like the second time, Coldsnap found herself caught within it and effectively "glued" to the lobby wall; the wind was way too strong to allow her any kind of significant movement.
All she could do was use very subtle, slight finger gestures to summon shields and barriers to protect herself against the mages' incoming attacks, scrambling to find out what to do; after all, she could barely do anything so long as Typhoon kept her pinned down.
Then, she got an idea.
The first half-blade; the one that she had thrown away earlier.
With a stealthy flick of her left hand's fingers, she summoned the half-blade back to her grasp, the hilt decking Typhoon in the back of the head on its way to its host and disrupting her concentration. The wind tunnel stopped, and Coldsnap landed back on her feet on the ground, holding her left hand out and expertly catching her other half-blade inside it to wrap off her move.
