We last read Chapter 38, in which Coldsnap has her last confrontation with Galeforce's right-hand woman, Typhoon, before making her way up to the former's office in an attempt to apprehend him once and for all. Coldsnap eventually manages to defeat Typhoon in battle, but does not kill her, instead choosing to freeze most of her body to the first floor lobby's wall so she can take care of her properly later. Coldsnap then unlocks the elevator with Typhoon's key and ascends to Galeforce's office, but an attempt to bring him in peacefully results in them coming to blows after Galeforce repeatedly refers to Coldsnap as nothing but a "prize" to be won. Before they can properly duel, however, Keena suddenly appears out of nowhere and, before anyone can do anything, she throws eight high-intensity water grenades into Galeforce's office, flooding the entire room and sending Coldsnap and Galeforce beneath the waves. This time, we find out what happens next, as Coldsnap squares off against Galeforce in a battle that could determine the fate of the Storm Sect.....and the Mage Aspects as a whole.....

The water from Keena's grenades initially swamped the entire office, but due to the already-broken windows, it was all drained out relatively quickly. However, Coldsnap and Galeforce were both powerless to resist the strong flow of the current, and were ultimately both washed out of the window and forced into a free-fall.

"SNOWDUST!" Keena cried as she directed the ice dragon to fly down after them.

But Galeforce was faster. Placing his right hand near his mouth and whistling—just as Coldsnap had done several times before—he called for two air elementals to come in, both of whom were flying in the air and using their collective strengths to carry a large platform made of rock for he and Coldsnap to duel on.

As the elementals began rapidly carrying the platform at high speeds all throughout the capital city—with Keena and the ice dragon in hot pursuit—both Galeforce and Coldsnap recovered from the sudden surge of water and readied their respective weapons once again.

"Your friend there should really think more about what she does," Galeforce snarked. "We both could've drowned right there.....I've half a mind to bring her down myself and teach her a lesson. Because clearly her torture didn't break her enough."

Coldsnap fixed a death stare on him. "I've already said it before; she's more than just my friend. And you shall not touch her; I'm already quite powerful, so how much more capable do you think I'll be if I'm angry?"

Galeforce sighed. "All bark and no bite. Come on! Let's do it, then!"

Both of them rushed forward, with Galeforce first attempting a strike straight at Coldsnap's head, which she initially blocked with both of her half-blades. But in a twist, Galeforce swiftly pushed Coldsnap's weapons off to his right-hand side before ducking downwards and delivering a severe shock to her leg with the electric coil on his weapon, causing her to cry out in pain and partially collapse.

He then decked her in the face with the hilt of his "sword", sending the heroine flat on her back and making her lose her grip on both of her half-blades, with Galeforce kicking them away so they would be even further from her reach. The commander loomed over her, pressed his right foot on her stomach to prevent her from getting up, then raised his coil upward and prepared to deliver a decisive blow.

"......I really thought this would be harder, Coldsnap....." Galeforce lamented. ".....Oh, well."

As a last-ditch effort, Coldsnap held her right hand out and shot an ice chain around Galeforce's electric coil "sword" in an attempt to restrain it, but Galeforce yanked his weapon back once the chain had wrapped itself around it; since the other end of the chain was technically still attached to Coldsnap's hand, this resulted in her overstretching it and her pulling a muscle, causing her even more pain. All she could do was groan and try to massage her right hand to make the pain subside while Galeforce casually unwrapped the chain from his "sword".
