She Was A Friend Of Mine

There were a few new additions to this year as I arrived back for my last year, but I was pleased to see Adrian from my first school. He just appeared in Maths on the first row one day. Adrian had grown, he looked so much taller than I remembered because I remembered he was smaller than me in our first school but I recognised his face from first school instantly and he looked cute with his floppy hair. So I told him he was in the form of passing a note across the lesson. I thought it would make him feel better, considering I turned him down at first school for a dance.

Then there was Vicky. She looked as hard as they came with her black hair scraped, and I mean scraped back because I could see it was tied tightly back into a bun at the top of her head. Vicky towered above me in height, and the only way to describe her makeup was that she had tipp-exd her eye lids before she put mascara on, and with her butch build, she was pretty terrifying. Vicky didn't like me. I'm guessing she didn't like my face. On one occasion, I feared for my safety where she was concerned. I had just come down the one set of stairs all happy, pretty confident about myself and I briefly saw her hanging around in the year 13 section, I was going to walk past when the next thing I heard...

"Let's get her!"

and so her and her crew came chasing after me. I ran up two flights of stairs and on my right (before another flight of stairs on my left up to the geography rooms) there was a massive corridor which went all the way down to the year 15 loos and the year 15 bench area (and more onward classrooms) so I hid around the corner of the first toilet and my legs just trembled. As I hung around the door, I noticed a slat missing in the ceiling above the sinks.
If I could just get up there, I would be safer, I thought. I pushed myself up onto the sink and lifted myself through the hole - I was so glad I got in there when I did because now they were in the loos.

"Where is she?" Vicky bellowed.

The girls looked all around themselves as I told myself to be quiet.

"Bang all the doors!"

I was so glad that I really hadn't chosen to hide behind that toilet door and moved because each door came crashing into the cubicle walls as they shook. I didn't dare move for two reasons. One, because I didn't know if the rest of the ceiling up here would take my weight and quite possibly would collapse with me falling onto the basins or because I'd give up my hiding place and then they'd see where I was and then kill me - because these girls unlike the rest of the bullies in my year were a no messing around I'll bash your brains in type of people.

"I saw her. I saw her coming in this direction!"

They didn't understand where I was as I realised I had snookered them and I was glad I had. There were easily six girls in here and six against me, I wouldn't have stood a chance. They finally left and left me to regain my breathing back, but I stayed where I was, I didn't trust that they wouldn't be hanging about the second I walked out of those toilets.
I felt I waited ample time before I came down, but as I came down, I realised some other students were walking in - including my friend Charlene, with Sophie and two others. I really don't know why I didn't explain myself to them in a way they'd have understood why and what I was actually doing or thinking because I was friends with Charlene and Sophie, but all they saw were two pairs of legs dangling from the ceiling as they entered into the room. With no explanation I looked like a dickhead that was going to get gossiped about but just thankful that I wasn't about to be beaten up today and finding the funny side of it I left the loos giggling. As they spoke about such an incident, word got around most of the year fifteen group. I was, in fact, in the ceiling. Some of the girls asked me if I heard such conversations they were having. I just grinned. I liked to keep people guessing if I could and if I could, have them on.
