I Never Thought I'd See The Day

I stood in front of my mirrored wardrobe finally dressed in my princess wedding dress. I was in my childhood bedroom as I had slept over at my Mother's the previous night.

I started looking deeply into my own eyes and took the time to concentrate on my breathing before I did anything, because right now there was a door I had to walk through where all my bridesmaids and photographers were gathered in the living room and I was a little anxious.

The previous night I had sneezed violently in the bathroom getting ready for bed and I had pulled a muscle in the crick of my neck so then my Mom was going on saying how this was great getting neckache right before my wedding and then I had to have a heat wrap over my neck every couple of hours but right now looking back at myself in the mirror there was just a rollercoaster of emotions going on inside of me so I was concentrating on that and I loved that. I said to myself over and over again that I was excited, convincing myself I wasn't nervous because I was but I just told myself today was going to be amazing, I'd waited long enough and I was going to have the greatest experience of my life. I felt something in my body by telling myself I was excited and it gave me enough confidence to go down those stairs and be myself.

"You ready?" Mom called.

I left the room and came walking around the corner and grinned seeing Mom looking up at the bottom of the stairs.
As soon as Mom opened that living room door - boom - cameras from photographers flashed through my eyes and every one I loved rushed over with excited faces and open arms.
This was it! This was my wedding day finally happening! All the planning and preparation from Mom and Annie helping out everything was finally coming to a head.

I went outside for photos. Mom and Dad had decorated outside and had set up a gazebo and had dotted around beautiful plants. The slabs were professionally washed and Mom came out of the dining room door, to be by my side and I saw she had tears in her eyes. She was caught up in her emotions and I felt the pang in my heart and then my eyes just welled all for like a few seconds. I rubbed Mom over on the shoulders to comfort her, I didn't want her to cry after all she was my Mom. After those moments we were like done with our emotions and was then ready to pose for the camera. She was in this gorgeous navy dress with a navy suit which had a little bit of white running around the lapels and with her little head piece in she looked so beautiful herself.

I had orders off the photographers who to pose with.

"One with the Mother."

So I got into position and one photographer took one at one angle and then at a side angle.

"Let's have Mom and Dad."

I stood in the middle of them all happy and excited. I was being photographed at all angles. It was amazing.

"One with the Father!"

I grabbed my Dad.

"Turn to the right."

So I threw my head and shoulders over to the right.

"Now the bridesmaids!"

As they finished up taking photographs of me singularly and my bridesmaids the cars drew up. I only knew they were here when Dad shouted and I went outside to see them. There were more photos took by the cars and a little girl comes out of our next door neighbours house.

"She wanted to come out and see you," Joyce said. "She wanted to meet a real live princess."

Oh! My heart melted!

"You look very beautiful," Joyce said before I could hug the little girl. "Have a lovely day."

"Thank you."
