I was sitting side by side from Kirsty in a pub holding my coke after our lunch whilst she mulled over setting me up with someone.
"Look, I've just had some photos developed," she said. "Tell me who you like and I'll phone one of the guys up."
I thumbed through her photos and immediately selected this guy. He had short dark brown hair with a nice face wearing an alright shirt.
"Him. I'll be his girlfriend."
Shocked Kirsty didn't like that response.
"You need to play it cool. So, you like Andy?"
I nodded.
"He's nice," she said.
"Yes, he is."
I remembered how sweet he was to me all that night when I was both drunk, upset after meeting my ex in a pub and walking around with a bruised big toe from something of hers in her room that smacked me over the foot. Andy, if that was his name then stayed with me the whole night.
"He's really nice. He won't muck you around like others."
I nodded.
"Oh, by the way Stephanie Brown is interested in him."
I scoffed and rolled my eyes.
Trust Stephanie to be interested in someone who I said I'd date. After Aron which I was aware he manipulated her too but I felt she went after anything in a pair of trousers because it was just the way she went after guys she liked that was a little creepy like grabbing someone's underwear in the Forrest Of Dean!
I knew I could come across as a little strong perhaps when I liked someone and wanted to spend time with them but I wouldn't even think to do that however, then another thought entered my brain where I thought hey, game on. The better girl will win. I will get Andy and she won't stand a chance and I did! Because Andy and I did start talking after Kirsty gave him my number and we went on our first date.It was in a pub where for some reason we were trying to decide who between us was the craziest.
"No. I am..." Andy insisted and judging by his face he was serious.
I stabbed at my food with my fork before lifting it to my mouth.
"Have you ever been stuck down a wishing well?"
"No."
"I told you. I'm crazy."
"Okay you win."When I went back to work at the café because I had some time off for a holiday every one was talking about Robert in the new department store I was working for.
"Has Rob asked you back out again?"
"No."
"Well he's come in here everyday so far trying to look for you."
He had?
It must be painfully obvious that he was interested then.
"He's come in everyday with another girl pushing a baby in a pram."
How was that trying to get me back then?
If anything that was trying to rub my face in the fact he was moving on with some one else's child so I didn't get that. I would just be very hurt seeing that yet I do believe how he was perhaps trying to make me jealous and upset. It didn't seem like a nice thing to do but maybe, just maybe what I did worked beforehand because just before I got together properly with Andy I took to the internet and typed in 'how to get your ex back.'
So I made even more of an effort every day in my appearance and what I wore and to be seen by anyone because I was walking up town in little black heels and a black and white summer halter dress to let word of mouth get back to Rob that I was looking fabulous and doing okay that we'd split but to also be seen to be enjoying life. So whereas I stopped doing pilates at the gym because I wanted to go to his house to see him before now I was going back to it. I wasn't sure how all this was going to get him back at the time as I signed up to a weekly newsletter to my emails about the truth about guys but now I really didn't need or want him I was with Andy.
