Darius and Ben were still by the herd of Ankylosaurus. Then, they both saw a black figure with blood red eyes. They both immediately knew it was the Scorpius. Ben started getting anxious about Bumpy and began running towards her. Darius stopped him saying, "Wait stop. You can't help her! But they can. Herd always protect their young." The two teens hid behind a tree log watching as the Ankylosaurus were surrounding Bumpy and a few other young ones. After some roaring, tail whipping, more roaring and even MORE tail whipping, the Scorpius gave up and left the herd.
After the spawn from hell left, the two boys came out of their hiding spot. Watching that fight, the boy with a blue headband realized something that he should've realized a LONG time ago, "The herd can protect Bumpy in a way that I can't. She belongs with them. She's safer with them. I have to let her go."
Darius came along and heard what Ben said under his breath, "You're being a good friend. You're doing what's best for her."
Ben immediately shot back at Darius, "Then why don't you do that for me? Staying here IS what's best for me."
This time, Darius revealed the ACTUAL reason he didn't want Ben back, "What no! I let you go once. Everything YOU have been through is because of me."
"That's not true," Ben told him, "All you've ever done was try to protect me. ALL of us. You ALWAYS have. I'm not mad at you. I never was."
"We make a pretty good pair, huh? Dino-nerd and Island-boy."
Ben corrected him with sarcasm, "Excuse me? Island-MAN." He puts his hand out for a handshake, "It's been a pleasure." Darius ignores the handshake and does something more. Ben accepts the embrace. But, he let it out, "Uh Darius, I meant let me go FIGURATIVELY, but now I mean it LITERALLY. You have to let me go."
"One condition," Darius tells him, "You come to the boat with me and wave everyone goodbye. You owe them that."
"Deal."
