We have arrived camp, and Sammy immediately began looking for that chip she was talking about. Yaz asked, "Well, is it still here?"
Sammy answered, "Still here!" I approached them as they attached the chip into the computer. Yaz clicked on random buttons. Then, it began working. Sammy yelled, "It's copying!"
Yaz looked at it again, "Reeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaally sloooooooooooooooooooooooowly."
I thought over the plan just to make sure nothing's wrong with it. I can go make the exchange and they'll give Brooklyn. Once they check it, we'll run. Wait. What if they want any guarantees? We've got to think about something for that. I told the others, "Guys, there's a problem with the plan." Everyone payed attention. "What if Wu wants to check the laptop BEFORE they give Brooklyn? We need a plan for that."
Darius started getting worried, "This is getting too risky."
I told him, "I didn't join camp to spend six months trying to save humanity too. I want to get Brooklyn back as much as you all do, but whining isn't gonna help." I immediately thought of something. I used a pen and paper from Yaz and drew a valley. It was not EXACTLY what I expected it to be, but it works. I said, "Okay, that is the valley. And this would be the helicopter. When making the exchange, if they want to check the laptop first, we'll need Ben to come in with a distraction. A stampede is my best bet."
Ben told us, "I could use Bumpy. I have made friends with some of the others in her herd. We could have them make the stampede for Brooklyn to be able to escape."
I continued, "Once that is done, we get the heck off this island once and for all."
Ben said, "If we follow your plan, we'll be in great shape."
Darius wasn't so sure, "Great shape? You kidding? What if they figure out that we messed with the laptop? What happens to Brooklyn then?"
I answered, "They won't. Like I said, Ben will come in with a distraction so Brooklyn can escape. Everything will be fine IF we STICK TO THE PLAN. So DON'T go rouge."
Kenji said, "Yeah, but this has to go good."
I questioned him, "Has ANY of our plans NOT gone good?"
In the jungle somewhere, Wu and the mercs are taking Brooklyn to that chopper. Wu tells her, "Don't worry. You'll be back with your friends as soon as we reach the rendezvous point."
Brooklyn scoffs, "You think I would trust a guy who hires mercenaries and kidnaps kids?"
Wu clarifies, "I didn't hire them. And you're not KIDNAPPED, you're an unexpected complication. I've only come here to receive the Indom...the point is, I'm a visionary pushing the boundaries of science. Hopefully one day, you will understand that."
Brooklyn counterattacked, "TRUE visionaries make the world BETTER. Not WORSE. Hopefully one day YOU'LL understand that."
They came across the same river that Darius attempted to jump over. Hawkes planned, "We'll head around it."
Brooklyn put herself into more trouble, "Good thinking. Let's head DEEPER into the jungle where ALL the carnivores hang." She pointed to a log, "We can just cross over that." The group of four began walking. Wu and Hawkes were in front of Brooklyn while the other merc was behind her. They sandwiched her so she couldn't escape.
The merc behind her slipped and fell. Brooklyn let him go. They ran to the other side. Brooklyn was almost there, but she tried to take this chance to escape. But Hawkes caught her and grabbed her arm. He demanded, "Your friends better deliver." She got really worried now. ANYTHING could happen to HER and US if we don't return the laptop.
Back at camp, we were still waiting for the laptop to copy. It's almost done but it's still going really slow. Darius whines, "Ugh come on!"
Sammy tried to reason, "Uh Darius. Not sure it'll go faster JUST because you tell it to."
Darius complained, "This thing has already taken TWO hours! How long has it already been?"
Yaz answered, "Thirty seconds since the LAST time you asked?" The laptop dinged.
Sammy said, "Well, good news is, it's done copying."
Darius didn't want to wait any longer, "Great! Let's go!"
Yaz made him lose the excitement, "But wiping is gonna take another hour. We should make it."
Darius asked, "SHOULD make it?"
"WILL make it," I told him.
Ben added, "Have a little faith, Darius. I'm about to wind up some extra help."
Yaz snickered, "Help? From who?"
Ben answered, "The only dinosaur on the island that I can trust."

HorrorI have written this story before. But over time, I have become a better author, so I will be rewriting this story in a better way. This is all from my perspective as I made myself as one of the characters.
