Cheers to chapter 15 🥂🥳.

"What is Franchise?"
Mr Obinna, the government teacher asked the class.

No one answered and there was a pin drop silence in the class. I knew Oba knew the answer to that question, because we read it together and she had a sharp memory– unlike me– but she was never one to answer
questions a teacher asked, because she doesn't want to get dumb and unnecessary attention.

Her words, not mine.

"Edwin?"
Mr Obinna called.

I sighed, rolling my eyes internally.

But I stood, nonetheless.
"Yes Sir,"

"What is Franchise?"
He asked me.

"Franchise is the political right of qualified adults, male and female alike to vote and be voted for in any political election."
I said to him.

He was impressed because he jammed his hands together and exclaimed
"Wonderful! Can you tell us the types of franchise?"

"Limited or Restricted Franchise, and Unlimited franchise or Universal adult suffrage."

He smiled widely at me, his golden skin shining and his face producing a dimple.

As soon as I sat down, Rodney tried to whisper some words to me.

"I'm sorry," He whispered.

"Okay," came my simple response.

"Does that mean you're still mad?" He asked.

"I'm trying to listen, Rodney. Stop being annoying,"
I snapped at him.

I look forward at Mr Obinna and ignore the hurt in my chest as I recall Rodney's words.

It was short break when treasure came to my class to look for me. Oba and AY were already by my table, causing a disturbance to my ear drums.

When treasure came up to me.

"Hey, Ed. Are you going to the tuck shop?" She asked.

I gave her a warm smile.
"Of course, can you give me a minute?"

Treasure nodded and went out of the class.

"Edwin, what are you doing?"
Oba asked me.

"Going out and making friends like my mommy told me to?" I replied, my response sounding like a question.

"What do you know about her?" Adeyemi asked in panic.

"She's treasure, she's pretty, she's in Maya Angelou hostel, she's in science class 3,"
I told them.

"When did you begin to go for break with her? I thought you went with Nneka." Oba said warily.

"You only thought that because you spend all your breaks with Beauty and the wannabes. Nneka goes with Dozie or some girls in the dance class," I stated to her pointedly.

"Oh," she said to me. "But how can you be so sure she's not bad?"

"She's been in your school for three years, I should ask you that question." I told her and she groaned, throwing her head back.

Rodney was sitting there, listening to what we were saying.

"Are you going for break?"
AY asked him. He shook his head in response.

"Then let's go," Adeyemi said, pulling my hand before I could object.

"Sorry for keeping you waiting," I said to treasure when I came out.

She smiled, nodding partially. Adeyemi who's arms were linked in mine gave her a curt nod and we walked to the tuck shop in silence.

"Um, treasure?" I called.
"Did you want to tell me something?" I asked.

She looked at Adeyemi warily.
"Yes, actually."

I nodded. "Adeyemi, move aside. You're making her uncomfortable."

He grudgingly shifted and joined Remi and Felix who hollered my name and waved before getting into the tuck shop.

"What's up?" I asked, looking at her. She seemed uncomfortable.

"It's actually about your sister, Wendy," she said warily. "Um, don't be mad at me?"

I shook my head, ignoring the lump in my throat.
"Of course not. What's wrong with Wendy?"

"My sister, Tamora, happens to be her friend. She told me that Wendy is getting involved with a boy in her set,
David, Judas brother. I just want her to be careful."
She said and I smiled at her concern.

"Thank you, treasure." I told her.

She nodded, smiling.

"How are you doing?"
I asked her.

"About Abel? My best friend."
She nodded. "He's gone to a better place and I'm becoming at peace with myself."

I took her hand and gave it a squeeze. "That's great. I'm always here if you want to talk."

"Sure. Thank you. Now let's go get snacks."
She replied.

"I have a question, " I said to her as we entered the tuck shop.

"How can someone name their children Judas and David. Is it matching at all?"
I asked and she double over in laughter.

"Edwin!"

"I'm asking out of pure concern!"

If I'm being honest, the whole franchise thing you saw there, is just me juggling school work and Wattpad at the same time 😹.

Don't judge me too much.

Also, recommend books for me, abeg. My library is dry.
