That was how I spent my senior year, I guess.

We returned to school for our grad week, but it was Tuesday and that day was signing out day.

We wore white t shirts and trousers to school for it.

I was in a white Nike shirt, with black baggy jeans, a black crocks and a cross bag.

My shirt was filled with different colours of markers and pens and I was going to tuck shop to get a cold drink, on my own when I met with Rodney on the road to tuck shop.

"My fake girl friend!" He called out immediately and I stopped and waited for him to catch up with me, before putting his arm around me.

"My fake boyfriend! How are you?" I asked and he chuckled, shaking his head.

"I'm just about ready to leave secondary school!" He exclaimed and I elbowed him in his stomach and he groaned.

"Okay, okay. I'm going to miss my reading partner and fake girl friend."
He said and I chuckled.

"I'm going to tuck shop, wby?" I asked.

"Wby? Are you well?" Rodney asked, reaching out to touch my forehead.
"What about you! English!"

I was dying of laughter before I nodded in response.
"Okay sir. It's Nneka's fault oh! Everything is acronyms to her,"

We both laughed after wards.

He opened up his hands for me, and I took it, smiling.

"I'm taking you on a date today." Rodney said to me, flashing me a huge grin.

"To the school's tuck shop?"
I and slowly.

"Aw, don't be like that now! I'll take you on a actual date when we go home. Right now, you'll manage."
He told me.

"Is this something you do with all the girls or is it just me?" I asked teasingly.

"You're the first girl actually,"
He said shyly.

"Aw, Chike!" I cooed.

"Don't let your head swell, abeg." He said, flicking my forehead playfully.

Ever since i found out his name was Chike, I had began calling him just that.

Rodney bought some snacks for me, and we began making our way to the garden.

"Prom is on Thursday," Rodney started and I nodded in response.

"What are we wearing?"
Rodney asked and I choked on my drink.

I began coughing and he rubbed my back.

"I don't understand." I said while I recovered from my cough.

"I'm asking you to prom.
What are we wearing?"
He asked.

I was dumb founded.

"Amy," he called softly. "Will you go to prom with me?"

I just stared at him for some minutes.

"Amarachi!" He said playfully.
"Answer me na!"

I laughed at his anxiety.

"I'm sorry!" I said amidst laughter. "I don't know what to say!"

"Maybe say yes? You know, the answer I want to hear?"
He said to me, his funny expression making me laugh.

"Sure. Sure. I'll go to the dance with you."

Rodney dramatically jumped, punching the air in happiness.

Then, he came over to me, a soft smile and pulled me into a hug.
