It is the second semester of our freshman year today and as the mayor of the class I need to be there early to get the keys in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics Office for our room. This is so tiring dahil kailangan ko pang iwan ang ID ko doon para makuha ang susi.

Lumabas na ako sa apartment ko at pumunta sa bus stop. It will take 30 minutes to get to the university at minsan kapag traffic at maraming pasahero ay dapat talagang maglaan ng isang oras sa pagbyahe.

Siksikan ang jeep na dumaan kaya naghintay ako ng mini bus at may dumaan din naman agad. Sumakay na ako kahit nakaandar pa ito. Baka mapag-iwanan pa ako.

Nakarating din ako sa university na pinapasukan ko. I opened my bag para ma check ng guard at makapasok ako. This is very hassle but for the security of the students ay kailangan talaga. Pumunta agad ako sa building ng Engineering since nandoon ang office. I knocked on the glass door bago pumasok at binati ang chairman ng DMS, si Sir Palma, he is handsome and very smart. Jolly din at nakikisabayan sa mga students kaya kahit hindi niya pa na handle ang block namin ay kilala ko na sya at kilala niya na ako. Happy crush ko talaga siya dito sa University.

Nang makuha ko na ang susi ay hindi muna ako nakipagchika kay Sir dahil 30 minutes na lang ay magsisimula na ang 7:00 am class ko which is my calculus 1.

Pumunta na ako sa building namin at dahil nasa 5th floor ito ay pagod akong nakarating sa floor namin. May elevator naman na naka install dito sa building pero mukhang nagtitipid ang President ng University kaya hindi pinapagamit.

"Hi guys" Bati ko sa mga kaklase kong nasa labas ng room. Kanina pa siguro sila naghihintay sa akin.

"Good morning yor!" Bati nila pabalik sa akin. Pumasok naman kami nang ma unlock ko ang dalawang door ng room namin.

After they settled in their chair at dahil kompleto narin kaming lahat ay pumunta na ako sa harapan.

"Good morning, everyone, I hope you had a great rest during your vacation. I already reached out to all our professors. The professor of our first class is newly hired kaya please let us be good although I know we are always good." Natatawa kong saad.

"Oy sabi-sabi nila na Magna Cum Laude raw yung prof natin." Ani naman ni Angel kaya kaniya-kaniya na silang may sinasabi at bumalik naman ako sa upuan ko katabi ng kaibigan kong si Angel. Dalawang Angel sa room ang isa yun yung marites ang itong katabi ko naman ay tahimik lang sa umpisa.

The door suddenly opened at iniluwa nito ang magandang binibini. She must be around in mid 20's. She roamed her eyes around as if she was looking for something or someone. And then her eyes settled in me for a few seconds, and she walked with grace in the middle of the room. Her physique was quite amazing. She might be taller than me for 4 inches pero nakaheels sya ng mga 4 inches kaya parang magkaheight lang din kami. Maybe it is 4 or 5 inches I'm not really sure.

She cleared her throat to get our attention at lahat naman kami ay tahimik na pinagmamasdan siya. She is indeed a beauty. Her pointed nose ang nakapadagdag sa ganda niya.

"I am Elena Cruz your instructor for Calculus 1. A graduate of BS and MS in Mathematics from Cebu Normal University. And for today we will have a pre-test in order for me to gauge your prior knowledge in this course. Please get a short bond paper." She immediately went to the white board to write a mathematical equation. Kaya kumuha narin ako ng bondpaper sa bag ko at nanghingi naman ang dalawa kong kaibigan hanggang sa I found myself giving almost all of my classmates a paper. Naging instant sugar mommy pa nga ng papel. 

"You have 30 minutes to answer this." She announced at nagsimula na akong magsulat. Test one was very easy since it is all just about the functions. But when I proceed to test 2 it is quite difficult already dahil about limits ito wala pa akong prior knowledge about this. And test 3 was like the very hard one since it is proving trigonometric Identities. I hate proving at wala rin akong masiyadong background sa trigo.

I focused in answering Kahit wala naman na talaga akong maisusulat pa. I am no brainy. Average lang ako when it comes to math. I do excel sometimes pero kapag sinuswerte lang ako.

"Times up give your papers to your mayor." She instructed and my classmates ay pumunta agad sa direksyon ko at nagsubmit. After that ay umupo na silang lahat pabalik sa kani kanilang upuan.

"Mayor, you should keep that first and I'll just get that later after class." She said and began erasing the writings in the board.

"Since this is our first day of meeting and I already introduced myself. It will be your turn to introduce yourself and what do you expect in this subject and what do you expect from me." Malumanay niyang saad kaya naman patango-tango lang kami.

"Ganda ni Miss" Bulong ni Angel dahil nasa gitna namin siya ni Jinky ay agad namin siyang nilingon at nagthumbs up naman ako sa kaniya.

"First who is this Kaethrein Alba?" I heard my instructor asked kaya naman tinaas ko ang kamay ko. Pero mukhang hindi niya napansin.

"Never mind let's just let your mayor be the first one to introduce herself." Ani niya at tumingin sa akin kaya tumayo na ako.

"Good day Miss, I am Kaethrien Alba, 17 years old, the mayor of this class and my expectation in this course is that I will learn more and be patient more with numbers and I don't have expectation of you Miss Cruz." Umupo agad ako na may tipid na ngiting sinalubong ang tingin niya.

"Why is that?" She asked nakakunot noo ko naman siyang tinignan.

"Pardon Miss?"

"Why is that you don't have expectation about me?" She inquired and I gave her a wide smile.

"I don't do expectation from people Miss. I wanted to be surprised on what they got rather than hoping or assuming about something. Assumptions should be only in Math not in life." Direkta kong saad. She nods once and proceeded to my other classmates.

Natatawa kong pinakinggan ang mga classmate ko kahit saan talaga ay may kalokohan na ginagawa. Mabuti naman at hindi masiyadong strict ang prof namin at minsan ay tumatawa rin sa kalokohan ng mga kaklase ko.

"Class dismiss. See you on Wednesday and have an advance study about limits. And to you Mayor please follow me." She went to the door and left kaya agad-agad naman akong lumabas baka mapagalitan pa ako. I heard my friends teased me pa nga na baka pagalitan daw ako. Mga tanga talaga. Natatawa na lang ako.

Buti na lang ay naabutan ko pa siya sa hallway ng floor namin.

"Miss" I approached her at sinenyasan lang niya ako na sumunod sa kaniya. Nasa likuran lang niya ako at minsan ay napapajog pa ako dahil ang bilis niyang maglakad. 

We entered the DMS office at walang katao-tao roon. Probably because the professors our out teaching.

"Mayor, I will also be the adviser of the two-block day section of freshman year of BS Statistics so if you have any concerns, you can approach me, and I will help you. But college doesn't really require an adviser, but I will be monitoring the class and all your grades." Ani niya habang inaayos ang mga gamit niya sa lamesa.

"Yes Miss, that will be noted." Sagot ko naman at binigay sa kaniya ang mga papel namin.

"You may go now." She dismissed me and I nodded and walked out. I fished out my phone only to find out nasa canteen na pala ang mga kaklase ko. Buti ay nasa ibaba lang ito ng EN building kaya bumaba na ako at pumunta doon. Since we have an hour break ay magbabrunch na lang ako. Para tipid.

"Hey guys" I approached them at umupo na ako sa gitna nila Jinky and Angel.

"Nag-order na kami Rein, mag order ka na dahil wala pang masiyadong tao." Angel said as she ate her hotdog kaya tumayo na ako dahil busy narin sila sa pagkain. Mukhang mga patay gutom talaga kami.

"One tortang talong po at isang rice at isang c2." I ordered at mabilis naman binigay ni Kuya ang order ko. Pumunta na ako sa cashier para magbayad.

"Ganda talaga ni Miss, sana nagpicture tayo." Dinig kong sabi ni Rena nang makalapit ako sa table namin.

"Mukhang may lahi si Miss eh" Sabat naman ni Clyde.

"Maganda si Maam pero sana di pangit bumigay ng grades." Tumawa naman kaming lahat sa sinabi ni Jermz. And they immediately stopped laughing when the professor walked into the entrance of the canteen at nalampasan niya pa kami patungo sa counter.

She is indeed a beauty.
