Time went by so fast at ngayon ay finals week na namin. After this we will have a two months summer vacation but because of the crash course that has been organized by our organization. I will be spending the last week of June in the university kahit wala ng pasok. I enrolled myself in excel and r programming and the excel's professor would be Elena kaya abot sa langit ang tuwa niya ng malaman na nag enroll ako sa course na iyon.
E's been courting me for some time now. Pero wala parin akong balak na sagutin siya kahit nahuhulog narin ang loob ko sa kaniya. Her being a professor of mine will cause quite a problem kapag may nakaalam sa amin. I don't want her to be in a tight spot.
"Ang lalim naman ng iniisip mo." Angel commented as we are seated in the student's lounge.
"Kailan mo ba sasagutin yang manliligaw mo?" Jinky asked while looking at me kaya napatingin narin si Angel na kanina ay busy sa pagbabasa ng notes niya.
"I don't know, but I am enjoying her company." I replied truthfully, napailing naman si Jinky sa akin.
"You like her already." She said it in fact. Napangiti ako roon para kompirmahin ang sinabi niya.
"Mahirap yan ang pinasok mo Kaeth. Ang dami pa namang ma issue rito sa university natin. Her license to teach will be in danger if ever someone will find this out." Problemadong saad ni Jinky na parang yung problema ko ay problema niya narin.
"I'll cross the bridge when I get there." Tanging nasabi ko bago sila sabihan na kailangan na naming magfocus sa pag-aaral dahil ilang minuto na lang ang natitira ay mag-eexam na kami sa purposive communication na subject namin.
Dali-dali akong lumabas ng room matapos ang exam dahil nakatanggap ako ng mensahe galing kay Miss na pumunta ako sa condo niya. She has been busy all week kaya hindi kami masiyadong nagkikita. She said that she has a surprise for me at doon lang niya sasabihin kapag pumunta na ako sa condo niya.
Hindi ako nagdala ng sasakyan o motor kaya nagbook nalang ako ng angkas para mapdali ang byahe ko. Ilang minuto lang ay nasa labas na ng university ang angkas na naibook ko.
"Hi Miss, ikaw po ba yung nagbook papunta sa Vida Condominuiums?" The lady rider asked at tumango naman ako. She is beautiful to be a rider. It is very rare to have a lady rider sa angkas at ang ganda niya pa. Pero loyal na ako kay E.
I hopped in her motorcycle at agad niya itong pinasibad. She is a swift yet careful na driver kaya kinse minutos lang ay nakarating na agad ako sa condominium ni Miss Elena.
"Number niyo po." I said as I was navigating in my phone.
"Sorry Miss I am not available." Napaangat naman ang tingin ko dahil sa sinabi niya.
"Gcash number niyo po. Via gcash po kasi ako magbabayad." Paglilinaw ko na ikinatango niya. Napapahiya niyang sinabi ang numero niya at agad ko naman itong sinendan ng bayad.
"Salamat." I said and walked out dahil nagmamadali rin ako. I wonder what is her surprise.
Nakasakay na ako sa elevator pero yung utak ko lumilipad sa kung ano ang surpresa niya sa akin. The elevator door opened and I immediately went out. Agad kong tinungo ang pituan ng condo niya. I knocked thrice but there was no answer. I twisted the door knob and good thing hindi ito locked.
Pumasok na kaagad ako at tinanggal ang sapatos ko. When I looked up I saw three people staring at me. I awkwardly stood there near the door. I looked at E and asked for help through my eyes pero natatawa lang niya akong tinignan.
Lumapit siya sa akin at hinalikan ako sa pisngi.
"Wear your slipper." She commanded and I followed what she said. Dahil nga palagi narin akong pumunta rito ay may sarili na akong panloob na slipper. I turned my face to her.
"Who are they?" I asked, ito ba yung surpresa niya?
"My parents." She said in monotone na halos ikabingi ko. I am still not ready yet to face her family.
"Relax, they will not eat you. Nandito lang din ako." She assured me and guided me towards the living room where her parents are seated.
"Good afternoon Sir, Maam." Magalang kong bati sa magulang niya. Tumikhim naman ang Dad ni Miss at tumingin sa kaniya.
"Who is this lady Elena?" He asked and his eyes were on Miss'. Napalunok ako dahil sa kaba. Her parents are intimidating.
"She's the one I wanna settle with in the near future. This is my muse, Kaethrien Maspara." Diretsang sabi ni Miss na kinalaki ng mata ko at ikinatayo ng dalawang magulang niya.
"What are you saying young lady?" Her father asked her as her mom trying to calm down her dad. I was there, standing not knowing what to do.
"She is the one that I love Dad. I am courting her." I looked at her in shock again. This was the first time that I've heard her say that she loves me. Sinalubong niya ang tingin ko and she reached for my right hand and intertwined it with hers.
"You are a disgrace in our family. Leave this place, I don't want to see your face right now. You don't have any rights to be here. Leave." Madiin na sabi ng Papa niya sa kaniya, she stood there still not moving kaya ang ginawa ko ay hinila ko na siya palabas. She remained silent and she let me pulled her away from that place.
"You know the past Elena yet you still pursued that girl." Galit na pahabol na saad ng dad niya. What is in the past?
She did not deserve what her father said to her. Nang makalabas na kami sa condo ay doon ko lang naalala na wala pala akong sasakyan na dala o kahit motor man lang. Pagabi narin kaya naman ay wala na akong nagawa at tumawag na sa body guard ko para ihatid ang sasakyan ko rito.
"I didn't know that will be your surprise to me." I started to talk to her habang hinihintay ang sasakyan ko.
"We both got surprise. I didn't expect it tho." She replied habang nakatanaw sa malayo.
"What do you mean?" I faced her and hold her shoulders. She leaned her head to my shoulders.
"I didn't expect they will be there." She said in whisper. Her voice were fragile like any minute she will breakdown.
"You know your parents will not agree with us?" I asked and she nodded. I pulled her away to me and looked at her in the eye.
"Then why still pursue me?" I looked at her teary eye and she avoided my gaze.
"Because I love you K. I have never felt this before for anyone." She replied and wiped a lone tear coming from her left eye.
"Am I worth it that you defy your parents?" Malumanay kong tanong, her gaze went back to me. She raised her hand and cupped my face.
"You are more than worth it K. I will defy the heaven and the earth just to have a chance to be with you." She said full of conviction, I smiled sadly. How much she will sacrifice just to have something that is very uncertain?
"I am not that worth it E." I said and avoided her stares.
"But in my eyes, you are."
