"I'm serious," Kelly giggled at her friend, "You guys would be cute together, and I can tell he's into you."
"First of all, he is not into me," Allison rolled her eyes, "and two, even if he was, it would be 'against the rules' for us to be together." She explained using air quotes.
"Please," Kelly sighed, "No guy helps a girl unless he's into her!"
"Or because they're trying to be nice." Allison defended, turning towards her friend.
"No," Kelly shook her head, "Trust me, Allie, I can tell. I'm good at that kind of stuff." She beamed, "And besides, if it's really frowned upon or whatever it's your choice not theirs." she said, referring to the director and his contract.
"Ah," Allison smirked, "But it is, I could get fired and Jimmy could get in some sort of trouble." She shrugged, "It's not like I read the fine print of the contract before I signed it, it's not like I expected anything like this to happen."
"Aha!" Kelly gleamed, pointing at her best friend, "So you do like him, oooh!" she joked, sticking her tongue out at her friend like a child.
"Get the hell out of here." Allison laughed, swatting Kelly's hand away from her.
"No really," Kelly said, trying to control her laughter and bring a serious tone back, "You guys would be cute together, I can tell you like him too." Kelly said, "I haven't seen you look at someone like that in a while."
"I'm worried about that too," Allison admitted, "If, and I mean if hypothetically, Jimmy and I started dating, I don't really know what Connor would do with the situation."
"You can't let that psychopath control your life," Kelly said, frustration brewing inside of her, "He's already controlled too much, it's time for you to be happy. And, Jimmy isn't anything like him, he seems like a real, stand up kinda guy."
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves," Allison said, "I don't wanna get my hopes up for something that's never gonna happen."
"You're annoying." Kelly laughed, as they pulled up to Allison's apartment complex, "Want me to walk you up?" Kelly offered.
"No," Allison shook her head, "I'll be fine, really." She assured, and with that she shut the car door and it sped off into the dark evening.
Allison took in her surroundings; it was a cold evening, given that it was early October. She looked at the Chicago lights surrounding her before she made her way up into the elevator. She quickly whipped out her phone and texted Kelly and Jack to thanks them. She texted back Joakim who asked where she went off to until she finally contemplated texting Jimmy as she shimmied her keys into the opening to unlock her front door.
She opened her door to reveal her dog, Buddy, wagging his tail from his dog bed. She quickly locked the door behind her before unloading her jacket and bag on her counter before kicking off her heels and giving her dog some attention.
She walked into her room where she unzipped her dress and watched in fall to the floor as she inspected her shoulder in the mirror behind her. Sighing, she slipped on a t-shirt and a fresh pair of underwear before tying her long hair up into a bun.
Being too lazy to take her make up off, she climbed into her bed and was soon followed by Buddy who made his way to lie down near her feet. She hesitated again over the messaging icon in her phone before pressing it and texting Jimmy, thanking him for tonight.
She was so tired she almost forgot to turn her lights off, and right when she climbed back under the covers she heard her phone go off.
