Allison was awoken by the sound of her cell phone going off. She stretched slightly and wondered who the hell was calling her this early on her day off. She, unwillingly, turned over in her bed and saw the caller ID was from a blocked number. So she decided not to answer, if they weren't willing to use their real number they weren't someone she needed to talk to anyways.
She closed her eyes and tried to go back to sleep when the blocked ID called again.
She sighed before answering, "Hello?"
There was white noise on the other end, she could hear someone breathing but they weren't saying anything.
"Hello?" she asked again, "Is someone there?"
Seconds later, the other line disconnected and the line went flat. She let out a disgruntled sigh before putting her phone down and laying down to go back to bed. Just as she was about to drift back off, her phone went off again.
"Ugh." She said before rolling over to her nightstand again. Blocked Id was buzzing across her screen, as she slid her finger across the key to answer.
"Hello?"
As before, all she heard was silent panting.
"Connor is that you?" she questioned, becoming frustrated, "Be a man and answer me!" she demanded.
No answer.
"Stop calli-." She started as she got hung up on again. She took in a deep breath and put her phone down and really tried to go back to sleep this time.
Not even a minute later, the ringtone she was beginning to hate, started buzzing again.
Allison was so irritated that she didn't even bother to look at the ID this time and just instantly answered, "Call this number again and I'm going to the police."
"Hey, baby, baby, wait!"
"Oh my god, Jimmy," she instantly felt horrible, "I'm sorry I thought you were someone else, I didn't even look at my caller ID."
He started chuckling a little bit over the other end, "You didn't look at the caller ID?" he asked, "Just-can you open your door?"
Allison peeled herself out of bed and felt very insecure. She had no makeup on, her hair was a mess and so was she.
"Uh, yeah..." She trailed off, "hold on." As quickly as she could she put her hair into a bun and splashed a little water on her face before unlocking the door to reveal Jimmy.
"Hey, baby." He smiled as he pecked her lips as he walked in.
"Hey, what are you doin' here?" she asked, closing the door after him.
"I just got done with training and wanted to bring somethin." He said, holding out to her some coffee and her favorite type of muffin.
"Well, that's very sweet of you." She smiled at him, "Thanks." She said, kissing him as they sat down together on her couch and she flipped the television on.
They decided on some stupid Saturday morning cartoon that was on and immediately began laughing with each other.
"That ones Taj" Jimmy announced, pointing to the cartoon character on the screen.
"Why?" she chuckled.
"Cuz he's so damn irritating, just like this dude." They both began laughing uncontrollably until Allison began laughing so hard that she let out a small snort. Which only caused them to laugh even harder.
"You know why I like you so much?" Jimmy asked looking away from the television to look at her.
"Hm?" she questioned with a smirk.
"You make it so easy to love you." He smiled.
"Oh my god, you're so fricken cheesy, J." she smiled, rolling her eyes.
"Nah, I'm serious." He said, "You smart, way smarter than me, you always make me laugh, you're beautiful. You're everything."
"Stop, you're making me blush." She smiled, patting her face, "And, I love you because you make it easy for me, really."
Jimmy patted his chest with his hand, "Wow, that really hit me right in the heart."
"Oh, shut up!
Just then, Buddy runs out from Allison's room and jumps into Jimmy's lap.
"Sometimes, I swear he likes you more than he liked me, and I'm the one who takes care of him." She laughed, as Jimmy began scratching behind Buddy's ears.
"Probably because he does, oh burn!", he joked, causing Allison so shake her head and laugh, "So earlier when I called, what was that all about?" He asked, as she took a sip of her coffee.
"Oh," she nodded, "Well, this morning some blocked number kept calling me and I'd pick up but the person on the other line was just like breathing and not saying anything." She began, "So when you called I didn't even look at the ID because I just expected it was him, so I'm really sorry." She giggled, "I didn't mean to start the day off with a call to the cops."
He laughed, "Nah, it's fine." He shook his head, "I was just like man what'd I do the day hasn't even started yet."
"Stop." She snickered, giving him a playful punch in the arm.
"Wait, him?" he asked, "You knew who was calling you?"
She froze up a little, she was practically 99% certain that the blocked number was Connor but she didn't want Jimmy to worry. "Oh, no I don't know, I just meant like 'them' you know. I just said he because it was the first thing that popped into my mind."
"Okay..." he answered a little uncertainly, "Cuz, you'd tell me if there was something wrong, right?"
"Babe," Allison started, "C'mon everything is fine, stop worrying so much."
"Okay, okay," he shrugged, putting his hands up in defense, "So, if I ask you something are you gonna freak out?"
"What?" she asked, "No...why would I freak out?" she asked, puzzled.
"Well, I mean, look," he said, struggling to find the right words, "We've been dating for eight months and my whole family really wants to meet you, but I don't know if that's too soon for you or?"
Her heart did start beating a little faster. His family wants to meet her?
"I'd love to meet them," she nodded, grabbing his hand, "I don't know why you thought I'd freak out."
"Because they want to meet you tonight."
