Chapter 38

"Uh oh," Joakim stated aloud, pointing to the two police officers walking through the door, "po-po." The table all turned their heads towards the man and the women each in uniform, looking around the reception.

They looked as they were trying to be discreet, to not disturb the party. But, why else would they be there if it wasn't a complaint about the noise?

The partners still continued to scan around the room, apparently not finding what they were looking for, because they approached the teams table.

"Excuse me," The male interjected to them, "You guys know where we can find the bride and groom?"

"They're both over there." Derrick nodded, pointing to Andy and Jasmine who had stopped dancing for a moment in order to catch a breath.

"Thank you," He smiled, "Have a good night."

"That was weird." Mia stated, as Jimmy and Taj nodded.

Everyone turned their attention towards the officer who seemed to have asked to talk to the couple in private, as they all made their way away from the large crowd.

"What do you think he's sayin?" Taj asked to the table, as everyone was trying to read his lips. Suddenly, Andy put his head in his hands and began to shake his head as Jasmine tried to soothe him by rubbing his back.

It seemed like the officer was asking him a bunch of questions, as he was writing down what Andy was saying on a small notepad.

"What is goin on?" Jimmy asked, open-endedly.

"I hope everything is okay." Pau concluded.

After what seemed like ten minutes, the officers seemed to be done asking questions. Andy seemed like he was crying or something of that sort, and Jasmine was trying to make him feel better. Before going towards the exit, the officers asked the couple one final question in which they replied by pointing to the teams table.

"Sorry to interrupt your night again," The women officer asked, "But we were told the belongings of Allison Walker were at this table. Could you guys help us locate them?"

"Yeah," Taj nodded, as he was sitting right next to Allison most of the night her belongings were still on the chair where she left them, "here." He said, giving the women Allison's purse and cell phone.

"Thanks again." The officer said, as she took Allison's belongings.

"Can you tell us what's goin on?" Jimmy asked her.

"Uh," She said, uneasily looking towards her partner.

"Well," Her partner interjected, "there's been an assault that we're investigating at the moment." He said.

"Oh my god." Pau said in shock.

"On Allison?" Jimmy asked in disbelief.

"We really aren't supposed to say..." The male officer said, but, his partner nodded to them with a slight frown.

"Is she okay?" Joakim asked

"We really have said too much already," He said, "Thank you for your time, really." He concluded, as he and his partner left quickly.

"Shit," Taj said, putting his head in his hands, "this is my fault, I shouda never left her alone."

"No man, this isn't your fau-" Derrick began, as Andy came over to their table and took a seat in, what was, Allison's chair.
