I sat there all afternoon staring at the seashell and listening to music..staring at the shell, and listening to music. It was constant, this seashell was really pretty. It was still intact, had barely any scratches and the colors were so vibrant it was gorgeous.

"Honey, come downstairs!" My mom called up the stairs. I slugged down the stairs again and found my mom and dad in the kitchen with a letter and a phone in their hand. "What happened?" I asked taking a seat. "What happened in class today?" I literally had no idea what they were talking. "I skipped if that's what you're talking about." I chuckled in sarcasm. "Why. Skipping out on your senior year, are you out of your mind?" Dad asked crossing his arms.."I don't wanna talk about this right now." I said..I felt my face becoming hot. "You're supposed to be a good person. Do the right things, and never the bad." My dad said. Oh what a hypocrite.

"That's a bit hypocritical, dad." I laughed. "How so?" He raised his head and smirked. "Because while you're out fucking your disgusting trash receptionists, mom is out actually doing her job. And you're telling me that I'm supposed to do the right things and never the bad when you're doing the wrong things all the fucking time." I laughed heading towards the stairs. "Mom knows it, she's just too blinded to believe it. Newsflash, Joey, I may be your daughter, but I don't have to like you." I said running up the stairs. I felt as if every flip had been switched and I lost all my shit. I locked my door and just texted Michael.

Me: i wish i was there with you right now

M: you ok, lil ?

Me: i skipped, parents found out, dad is telling me to do the right things when hes cheating on my mom all the fucking time. so i said it to his face, im like 'you know, i dont have to like you' and that he always fucks his workers and that my mom is too blinded to see it.

M: your mom needs to open her eyes, lily

Me: i can always open them for her

M: anyways..anything good happen today?

Me: i met a boy today at the beach and he was really awkward but it was funny bc i forgot my necklace there and he searched for me and gave it back and gave me a shell c:

Me: oh shut up and come home

M: 3 weeks :(

Dusk came and the clock stroke midnight..so I headed out for the beach. At this point, my parents didn't even care because of how many times I've been doing this. I took the same path I take every single night and followed the same green and brown pebbles that are there every night.

I walked onto the shore and saw the blue eyed boy sitting on one side of the bench staring at the ocean. I went and took the seat that was vacant next to him. "You fucking startled me." He chuckled gasping. "Sorry." I said as I dryly sat next to him. "Do you always come here?" He asked as the wind started setting in. "When I have bad days." I kicked the sand and buried my toes in between. "Yeah, basically same. I also come here just to remind myself that the entire world isn't that bad. If it was that bad, I don't think the beaches would be this beautiful. Let alone the stars, or the seashells." He said kicking the sand slightly with his feet causing it to flow in the air a bit. "I guess. The people are bad though. Everyone has some sort of bad in them..mine is skipping and talking back." I looked down and played with the string on my pants. "Mine is driving at night..I'm not really allowed to but I do it when I have bad nights to get shit off my mind..sometimes. I should be out driving right now, but this is like a uh, a different kind of peace of mind. It's less dangerous." He said putting his feet up into a criss cross.

"I don't like driving. I'm scared of it, but if I have to, I probably will..I don't like the big trucks." I said still playing with the string. "Has this always been your bliss?" He asked. "Pretty much considering I live right next to it."

I only ever wondered how it was to drive at night..no light but the own blistering moon and the stars. Occasionally, the street lights..Occasionally.

"So how old are you?" I asked changing the subject. "I'm seventeen. Turning eighteen in a few months. July, precisely." He said. "And you?"

"I'm seventeen also, I'm turning eighteen in November." I smiled in awkwardness.. "Favorite thing to do?" He asked. "Are we playing 21 questions?"

"Something like that." He smirked as he kicked sand. "I like to write poetry and come here. I'm a pretty boring girl. My best friend isn't in town right now and I've been coming here a lot more then I expected so all I've been doing is watching shit on netflix and listening to my parents bitch all the time. You?" I had no other better explanation. That's literally how it's been for two years now. "I like to write songs and poetry also. I turn them into mini songs though when I'm in a bad mood. And same for me. The attitude from my own parents don't stop. We used to be tight, not anymore." He looked at me and sighed. "...What's your favorite color?" I asked changing the subject again because it seems as if he was thrown off. "Blue." He smiled. "Mine's black." I laughed. "Mysterious." He said. "If mysterious is writing poetry and watching American Horror Story all the time then sure, I'm mysterious."

It was about one thirty and it seemed as if the tide was coming in stronger then it did before and I was getting a bit afraid. "I'm heading home, Luke." I said getting off the bench and making my way to the pathway. "Wait!" He ran over to me with something kind of big in his hand. "This shell is pretty cool, and it's sort of pretty and thought maybe you would want it..I didn't wanna throw it back in the water considering it's uh..too pretty to go back in..so here." He awkwardly handed it to me. I couldn't help but laugh a bit at how funny he was when he felt stuck. "Thank you, Luke. Are you staying here?" I asked pointing to the water that was overflowing the bench. "A little longer, I am. I'll see you around." He smiled before running back into the distance of the beach and disappearing into the fog. I looked at the shell he gave me and noticed it's colors were teal and like a dark pink color..so so unique.
