It had been Monday morning and I sluggishly got out of bed and dragged my feet against the warm floor and over to my window. I swung open the curtain and drenched myself in the morning sun. I went over to my dresser and pulled out a pair of pre-ripped black shorts and a grey tank top and threw those on. I threw my hair in a quick high pony tail, put on my vans and went down to the kitchen only to find my mom finally looking happy and cooking up some pancakes.
"Happy today, yea?" I asked taking a seat. She took the pancakes off of the pan and flipped them into a plate and handed them to me. "You're father texted me saying he's staying with that tramp and won't be coming back. Only to get his belongings, but I already packed his shit."
I hated how my dad treated my mom. She wasn't a dog, and she deserved to be treated the way a woman should be treated. I took a few quick bites of my pancake and headed towards the door, and grabbed my bag. "I'm off to school, mom. Michael will probably pick me up after school later on if he's back by then." I said. "Alright hon, love you."
And with that, I immediately exited and started to run to school.
"Need a ride?" A voice came from on the left of me. The street. I turned my head and saw Luke had rolled down his window and was chuckling. I stopped running and turned my attention to him. "You won't kidnap me, will ya?" I joked before hopping in the passenger seat. "Never." He laughed before started to drive again. "Well you look nice..formal. Anywhere specific you going?" I asked looking at the black and white tux he had on. "I'm not going to school today. I have a wedding I need to 'attend' too. My aunt's wedding for that matter." He said making a 'bleh' face. "And you just so happened to pass my house." I laughed sticking my elbow out of the window. "I came over to pick you up so that you won't be late. You should be thanking me." He said eyeing the clock he had on the radio. "Oh shit, thanks." I said laughing.
"No problem." He looked into the rearview mirror and fixed his mini..quiff..swirly..hair..thing. "For a boy, you seem to care a whole lot more about your hair then me." I laughed looking at how fucking perfectly swirled his hair was. "My hair is my best quality. Without it, I'm nothing." He dramatically said cracking a small smile. "Drama queen."
"Am not..just want the ladies to be impressed." He said looking at me and winking jokily. "Hey I want you to be honest." He added. "Shoot." I said. "Am I ugly? Because some people in school tell me that I am..I don't think I look that bad." What he said kind of caused me to get a bit thrown back because Luke is actually really attractive. You'd expect him to be some sort of jock, but instead he's a really quiet shy science nerd. Michael on the other hand..is the jock. "I actually think you're cute. I don't know why they would be calling you ugly unless they're just jealous of you." Which was the truth, why would you be telling an obviously handsome boy that he's ugly unless you're jealous? "You aren't just saying that?" He asked looking over to me and pulling into the school's parking lot. "I mean it. But I have to go, text me later!" I said getting out of the car quickly and looking back at him only to see him staring at me and smiling softly to himself. I smiled and waved ; he waved back and was off.

I got into the school building and received a text from Michael somewhere between third or fourth period saying...
Michael: hey loser, ditch class im outside !!!
I didn't even bother to answer, I just excused myself and ran out of the building. I made eye contact with Michael and I ran to him and jumped in his arms. "That was too long." I said muffled. "I'm here now!! I missed you so much, Lily!" He said hugging me tight. I released him, grasped onto his shoulder and looked up at him. "Let's go somewhere." I smiled. "Take me anywhere." He smiled back.
And with that, we drove around town with the wind and sun in our hair, soaking up each other's company. "So how was Australia aside from the death?" I asked as he steered the car into Clark Street. "It was nice to be back home. Anyone new that I don't know about?" I SWEAR THIS BOY KNEW ME BETTER THEN ANYONE. "The beach boy. He's really nice. He dropped me off here a few hours ago and now we're here..Hi." I laughed moving the hair out of my face. "He goes here?" He asked. "Yeah, Luke Hemmings." I said. "Oh I know that kid. He's cool." Which was unlikely of a jock to say. "Do you guys call him ugly? Because he asked me if he looked ugly because he was going to a wedding and he told me that people at school call him ugly and I know that jocks are mean.." I said. "I don't, but some people on my team do. I'll tell them to lay off, okay?" He asked.
"Thank you." I smiled.
