marcos and tsuyoi were stretching before their game. the other teammates already stretched and geared up. coach sinka was talking to them, giving minor encouragement but mostly threats on what type of practice it would be if they lost.
tsuyoi would get the brunt of it. the tall male believed he wouldn't survive if they lost, he shivered slightly, that's something he doesn't want to go through every again.
marcos and tsuyoi were the last two in the locker room, the rest of the team already on the field. the two male's got up, sighing and dusting each other off.
"i asked my father to see my game today, like you said." tsuyoi brought up as they grabbed their helmets to walk out, "it was hard to ask, but i caught him in a good mood."
marcos looked at him, they hated yotta. they hated him with a passion.
from the way he treats tsuyoi and naību, to everyone else but himself. yet, marcos had nothing on yotta that could prove he was a bad man, believe them... they checked.
but yesterday, seeing tsuyoi and yotta actually smiling, made marcos heart clench for their best friend. they felt saddened -yet there was a tinge of hope- that the same old man from when they were kids was still there.
because yotta wasn't always like that.
marcos desperately wanted tsuyoi to have a bond with his father, tsuyoi had no one else to turn to. besides marcos' parents, but they weren't blood related. marcos can see the way tsuyoi has a slight look of envy and disappointment every time he comes over and their parents are home.
tsuyoi wished he had that bond with his parents, but he didn't get the luxury.
"what did he say?" marcos finally asked after a moments hesitation, the blank tone was worrisome.
they didn't know if it was tsuyoi freaking out on his own, not wanting to tell people he was nervous to play. tsuyoi never got nervous, but his father never comes to his games. or, they didn't know if tsuyoi was hiding anything else that happened.
they stopped at the end of the ramp, waiting for them to be called like every game.
"he said..." tsuyoi was quiet, he put his helmet on. that sent alarms in marcos' head, tsuyoi would wait to put his helmet on until after people saw him. "he said he was too busy to waste his time on pointless activities."
"tsuyoi-"
"ladies and gents- the moment you've all been waiting for! co-captain of the top two football team in the prefecture... iglesea marcos!"
the roars of fans cheered loudly. marcos patted tsuyoi's back before jogging down, hands thrown to their side to bask in the attention. their cheers and claps getting louder from seeing the second best player on the team.
"and lastly... the one, the only... the fucking best football player out there, makes everyone wish they were him, or makes them wish he looked at them... your star player and seijoh captain... aiko tsuyoi!"
tsuyoi took a deep breath, pushing his father's words out of his head. the stadium cheers brought him to a higher mood, but he was still slightly upset.
he finally began to jog down, waving to them and hearing girls scream louder for him.
he knew it was pointless to ask his father, but he had hoped they were getting closer... he had hoped his father would've acted like a father and supported him just this once.
he did his usual, he found naību in the front row, in the same spot she's always in. when he ran to her, he was surprised he didn't see mai with her, but the volleyball players.
