A few weeks later there was a day that Logan had to go into work early, leaving Rory to drop Millie off at daycare. There was a reason that Logan always dropped off, and it's that Millie always cried. It was a lot easier for Logan to deal with the tears than it was for Rory so they'd decided that he would drop her off and she would pick her up. Of course there were times that didn't work out, but they tried.

Rory got to work mentally spent. Having to leave her crying daughter was never easy, let alone when she was pregnant and very hormonal.

"What's wrong with you?" Melissa asked. Melissa was another writer at the San Francisco chronicle. She and Rory had become good friends over the years. She also had twins that were only a few months older than Millie, and an almost one year old baby.

"I did drop off today" Rory told her

"Tears?"

"Always. I don't know how Logan does that every day"

"It's always easier for the guy" Melissa said

"Yeah. That and-" Rory stopped herself when she realized that she was about to say

"And what?"

"Nothing"

One thing about Melissa is that she was freakishly good at reading people. She looked at Rory for a minute, before taking a guess. "Are you pregnant?"

"How do you do that?" Rory asked "seriously, it's freaky"

"So you are pregnant"

Rory laughed and rolled her eyes "yes, I'm pregnant"

"I knew it! How do you feel?"

"Fine, other than the fact that I just almost cried, dropping my daughter off at school"

"Those hormones are no joke"

"You can say that again"

The next time Rory and Logan brought Millie to Connecticut was when she was 12 weeks pregnant. That was the only chance they really had to tell people because by the next time they were there Rory would be visibly pregnant.

The plan was that they would tell Richard and Emily at Friday night dinner, and Lane would babysit Millie so that she wouldn't be around to witness the more than likely negative reactions. They were having lunch with Christopher on Saturday, and dinner with the Huntzbergers. Millie wouldn't be at either of the meals.

"No Millie?" Emily asked when Rory, Logan, Lorelai, and Luke walked into the house.

"No, she's having a little pajama party with Lane's kids tonight" Rory said. Steve and Kwan were less than a year older than Millie and the 3 got along really well.

"I see"

"What would everyone like to drink?" Richard asked.

Rory didn't drink when Millie was around, not really for any particular reason, she just didn't, but that meant that it had been almost 4 years since Rory had alcohol at Friday night dinner, and she was hoping that even without Millie there, nobody would be suspicious when she just asked for club soda.

"I think the usuals, right?" Lorelai said. She was hoping that Richard and Emily wouldn't think anything of Rory not drinking do that she could tell them on her own time.

"The usual is good" Rory said

"The usual it is" Richard said. He got everyone their drinks and sat down. "So Logan, how's business?"

While Logan was talking, Rory took a sip of her drink, and immediately spit it back into the glass. When they said 'usual drinks' Richard assumed that Rory would be having alcohol since Millie want around, so that's what he gave her. (AN: for the sake of the story we're gonna pretend that before getting pregnant, Rory's regular drink was a vodka soda)
