Saturday afternoon Rory walked into a tattoo shop with Amelia and Abigail.
"Woah, it's cool in here!" Amelia said
"Hey, welcome in" someone said. "I'm Clara. How can I help you today?"
"We wanna get our ears pierced" Amelia said
Clara looked at Rory for confirmation. Rory nodded. They went into a room in the back and the girls picked out their earrings while Clara set everything up.
"Alright, who's going first?" Clara asked
"Millie" Abigail said before anyone else could answer. As much as she wanted to get her ears pierced, she was also nervous.
"Ok" Amelia said, and sat down in the chair.
"Look at that" Clara smiled. "No fear"
"None" Rory chuckled.
"I love it" Clara said. "Alright, I'm gonna clean your ears, make 2 little dots to mark where I'm gonna do it, mom's gonna give me the ok, and then I'll pierce your ears. Sound like a plan?"
Amelia nodded. "Why do we have to come to a tattoo store?" She asked, while Clara got everything ready to pierce her ears. "Heather said she got her ears pierced at the mall"
"This is better for your ears" Rory told her. "Sometimes when you do it at the mall, it doesn't heal right, or it gets infected. This way is safer"
"Oh"
"Alright, mom does that look ok?" Clara asked
"Looks great" Rory said
"Ok, Amelia take a deep breath in" Clara said. Amelia took a deep breath in. "And out" Amelia let the breath out. She had Amelia take 3 more deep breaths, and put the needle through her ear while she was breathing. "That's it"
"You did it?" Amelia asked
"Yup. You did great" Clara said
"I didn't even feel it" Amelia giggled.
"I'm gonna do the other side now, ok?"
"Yeah"
Clara repeated the process on the other side. "Take a look" she gave Amelia a handheld mirror
"What do you think, babe?" Rory asked
"I love it" Amelia said. She was smiling from ear to ear. "Thank you"
"You're so welcome" Clara said
"Is it your turn?" Clara asked Abigail. She nodded. "Awesome. What's your name?"
"Abigail"
"Ok Abigail, and how old are you?"
"Almost 6"
"Alright, so I'm actually gonna have you sit on mom's lap while I do it" Clara said.
Rory sat down and lifted Abigail onto her lap. Clara got everything ready and got the ok from Rory. "Are you ready?"
Abigail nodded.
"Ok, deep breath in...and out" Clara said. Abigail didn't even notice the needle going through her ear. "I did it"
"Really?" Abigail asked
"Yeah"
"You did great baby" Rory kissed the top of her head.
Clara pierced Abigail's other ear, and like the first one, she barely noticed.
"What about you, mom?" Clara asked. "Are we doing you too?"
