Chapter 26: It All Takes Time

Izzy and Daisy arrived at the hospital with some treats for their mother. It felt so good to have Daisy around, that Izzy just watched her mother and Daisy interact. She had forgotten what it felt like to have her siblings around and sometimes she felt like the only child as they all led such different lives.

There was a knock on the door and a nurse entered looking for Izzy.
"Yes?"
"Ma'am here is someone to see you. He did not want to disturb your family time, so said he would wait"
Izzy seemed perplexed by the thought of who it might be. When she came to the waiting area it was Serkan with a bouquet of flowers.
"Serkan? Why are you here..?" she asked.
"Merhaba Izzy Hanim.. You didn't call so I didn't have your number. I wanted to apologize for upsetting you and thought I might find you here"
"Thank you there was no need for this... Apology accepted and I'm sorry if I overreacted or offended you in any way"
Izzy felt quite unsure what to say, as the incident made her look at him in a different light. She recalled her sister's words and thought she should just let nature take its course in regards to what this friendship really was or what his motives was.
"Friends?! "
Serkan stuck out his hand for Izzy to agree. She was hesitant, but then plucked up the courage. Izzy smiled sweetly and as she met his hand, he held her hand a bit longer than just a handshake. Just then the door of the waiting room opened and Burak appeared. Staring sternly at the scene of Izzy's hand in Serkan's grasp.
"Burak?!" Izzy exclaimed.
She swiftly pulled her hand out of Serkan's hold and went over to Burak. It made Serkan feel bitter to see her leave his hand so quickly to give Burak attention. He rolled his eyes and met Burak's glaring look at him.
"Why are you here?! How are you here?! I thought you went on a business trip.."
Izzy could not believe that Burak had arrived and she bombarded him with questions as she could not believe that he was really there. All her questions and disbelief made Burak smile at her innocent girl nature. He grabbed her and hugged her tightly, stroking her hair and nuzzling his face in her neck.
"I missed my girlfriend too much!! If I stayed one more night alone, I'd die" he teased.
He looked over at Serkan behind Izzy's back and felt quite pleased at how annoyed he looked.
"You're crazy! But I missed you too!"
Izzy hugged Burak longer and inhaled his manly scent of his favourite cologne he wore.
Serkan cleared his throat loudly and Izzy jolted out of her embrace with Burak. He saw through Serkan's scheme and grabbed Izzy's arm to have her stand against his chest with her back resting against him.
"Sorry.. I was surprised.." she tried to explain her behavior.
"No need to explain Izzy Hanim" Serkan cut her off and gave a frank smile.
Izzy bit her lip, not sure what to say as Burak and Serkan were already in a stare down. Just as she was getting flustered by the tension, the door opened and Daisy appeared.
"Sis are you having a gathering?" she joked.
She eyed everyone then looked at Izzy with a big smile.
"You must be Burak?" she extended her hand.
"Yes"
"Do I call you Burak or brother in law?" she joked.
Burak's stern expression softened and he gave Daisy a timid smile.
"Hey! Don't start trouble!" Izzy warned her.
"Serkan?" Daisy turned and extended her hand to him as well.
"Yes!"
Daisy seemed quite pleased with herself that she got it right from first glance.
"This is my middle sister Daisy. She's also apparently a comedian in her spare time, I see.." Izzy teased.
Daisy burst out laughing at Izzy's introduction of her.
"What can I say? I've learnt a lot down under kiddo!"

There was a brief silence and then Serkan walked over to Izzy.
"Can I have your number, I'll be leaving in the next few days and you still owe me a meal" he said slyly.
She looked over at Burak who seemed to be agitated by Serkan's persistence.
"You can have mine"
Burak took out his business card and offered it.
"Thanks, but I'd rather have hers"
He nudged his phone into Izzy's hands. Izzy seemed unsure whether to give it and then she saw Daisy nod in agreement to give it. Finishing adding her contact, she gave the phone back to him.
"Tessekur ederim" he said chuffed.
Izzy felt uneasy as she knew Burak looked far from pleased.
"I have to go now, but I'll be in touch" Serkan said as he walked out and made sure that he brushed against Burak's shoulders as he exited.

The room fell into silence after he left and Burak seemed like he was fuming.
"Time will tell..." Daisy said nonchantly.
Burak and Izzy looked at her confused by her random words.
"That guy is definitely dodgy and up to something. This is interesting.."
"You sensed it too?!" Burak asked Daisy.
"Hmm, but I told Izzy time will show his true colours"
"Time? Why should we wait?! His a jerk and I dislike that Izzy spends time with him!" he glared over at Izzy.
"Burak! I have no interest in him, I swear" she defended herself.
"She doesn't" Daisy vouched.
"Then why did you give your number?"
"I told her to.. He seems so persistent, so if she didn't today then there will definitely be another way he would get it or something" Daisy explained.
"Hmmm.. As much as I hate to say this, but you're right"
"Let's see what his real motives are, because he knew you were a couple before coming here and he definitely knows your face from your family business. It would be unfathomable if he didn't"
"You guys are making me scared.. Maybe you guys are reading too much into Serkan"
"No! Daisy is right.. He might be after something" Burak said
"I got you brother in law!" Daisy winked at Burak.
He grinned and seemed pleased at the title. Izzy looked at both of them and rolled her eyes at their closeness.
