As Izzy and Kyle talked about the various scenarios of how she could have been drugged, Izzy's phone rang.
"I have to take this, it's my sister. For now I won't mention any of this to them, so help me keep this a secret" she pleaded.
"Ofcourse! You can tell them when you are ready" he comforted her.
She cleared her throat and then answered, trying to sound natural.
"Hello Daisy?"
"Hey Iz! How is things going over there?"
"Not too bad, most of the problems have been attended to. How's dad? Is mom getting enough rest?"
There was a slight pause from Daisy's side in answering, which made Izzy suspect something was wrong.
"Daisy, are you still there?"
"Yeah...sorry! Everyone is okay and dad is recovering well..."
"Daisy, what is it? You sound hesitant or something"
"Iz, don't get mad or anything... I just wanted to tell you before you heard it somewhere else..."
Izzy's mind started racing at what it could possibly be that her sister was keeping from her.
"Just tell me!" she demanded.
"I'm not even sure where to start or how... But.."
Daisy's pauses in between were making Izzy even more anxious.
"Uhm.. So after the surgery, dad went to the recovery room. When he got out of danger we transferred him to the recovery centre like we all discussed for post treatment, right?"
"Yeah..? So what's wrong?" Izzy was trying to figure out the problem.
"Well, I know Burak insisted on paying it and after the bickering you also agreed... The recovery centre called now and is looking for the monthly admission fees to be settled. I asked them if there was not a payment option already in place and they said no. They haven't received any word on payment fees, they just got the booking confirmation"
"Say what?! So Burak never paid for it at all or left a payment method?" Izzy's eyes grew wide.
"No, I went there earlier and there's nothing in place... Do you want to call Burak and ask, or what do you want to do?"
Izzy sighed heavily trying to think of a solution. She tried to hide her disappointment in Burak not fulfilling the promise he insisted on, but she thought now was not the time to dwell on it.
"How much do we need right now?"
"The current fees is 15k, I have 10k I could contribute. Unfortunately, I needed to book my flight last week to return to work. If I knew I'd obviously would have made provisions" Daisy explained.
"No need to explain sis. This isn't your fault, I just trusted Burak's words too much. I have enough savings to cover this bill. I'll send the money to you and then you can settle the bill. When I get back home, I'll sort out the rest" Izzy assured her.
"Iz! Don't be silly, wanting to take on the responsibility alone. I'll pay half, I've asked Emma, but let's not get into that now..." Daisy sighed.
"Another argument, I suppose?" Izzy tried to guess.
"Yep! She's on edge these days, so I'm trying to stay out of her way and just help mom more"
Kyle signalled to Izzy something and she gave him a nod in return.
"Daisy, I have to go now. Something here needs my attention, I'll send the money right now. Let me know if there is anything else needed"
"The rest I'll take care of. Don't work too hard and I'll see you when you get back"
