Arriving at the hospital, they couldn't find Izzy's parents in the designated room. In a panic, Izzy called her mom and then she explained they were upgraded to a VIP room area. They rushed over to the new room and the nurses were still settling her father in.
"Mom, what's this all about? Why did they move you?" Daisy asked.
"Hey kids.. Actually you have to thank Burak's family for this. His parents arranged for us to move to a more private room area"
They all turned to Burak who seemed more shocked than anyone else. He pretended to know and nodded in agreement with Izzy's mother as she thanked him.
"Burak dear, it really wasn't necessary. We really thankful for it, but no need for your family to waste funds on us"
Izzy's mom told him as she rubbed his arm.
"It's really okay and glad we can assist in the recovery"
"Mom, did they give any update on Dad's condition?" Izzy asked.
"Doctor will be here soon. He said he wanted to see us"
Everyone froze up at those words and Burak pulled Izzy back towards him and gave her some comfort.
"Let's be positive, okay?" Izzy's mom said with glossy eyes.
They knew she was holding back her tears to be strong infront of them, but they preferred her to just let go too.
"You're as strong as your mom" Burak whispered to Izzy.
She turned around to him and gave a sweet smile.
"She taught us to be strong and independent"
The doctor arrived and everyone was on alert mode. He took a few moments to check the patient's vitals and then wrote some things down in a folder which he handed to the nurse. Everyone's eyes followed his every move, with no one saying a word until he was done.
"Well, you're all his family so I can speak openly, right?" the doctor asked.
"Yes, these are my daughters and my son in law" Izzy's mother said comfortably.
Izzy nudged Burak at her mom calling him son in law and he couldn't help but try to hold in his huge grin at the acknowledgement.
"Good then! Well to be honest the patient's condition is worsening slightly. His not in any danger as yet, but might need to undergo another head surgery before things get worse. We can wait a few more days to see, but it's a 50/50 situation where it could get worse whilst waiting"
Izzy, Daisy and their mother were at a loss of words. They held onto one another not sure what to do, as they looked at their father lying in the bed. Burak felt bad for not being able to be much help in this situation. No one could answer the doctor so Burak took charge and asked about the complications and other details. Izzy's mom walked over to where Burak and the doctor were talking and held tightly onto Burak as a sign of her giving him permission to continue. They concluded the talk with the doctor and then Burak briefly explained things to Izzy and her family.
"I'm sorry if I'm stating things so bluntly. I'm not really good at sugar coating things" Burak apologised.
"No need! We really appreciate you taking charge and being transparent with us" Izzy's mom said.
"Yeah, agreed. We were all a bit dumbstruck earlier, so glad you were here bro" Daisy said with a smile.
Izzy smiled proudly at Burak, it really felt like they were a family in that moment. They discussed the surgery a bit more then agreed to do it. When the nurse arrived, Izzy's mom informed her and then she asked if someone could come sign the forms at the desk. Izzy's mom said she will go and Burak asked if he could accompany her. They went to the front desk to sign and Izzy's mom got a surprise at the bill for the surgery and the after care needed. She put the pen down momentarily. Burak noticed her hesitation and asked what was wrong.
" It's really expensive.. Even the care needed after is double than the amount we paying now. If, the surgery is not a success we will still be in debt as all our savings won't be enough for this" she covered her face with her hands.
"I'll cover it" Burak said boldly.
"No, no! You can't!"
"Please ma'am.. Let me help"
"I appreciate your assistance and support, but really I can't accept this. I'll talk to the girls and figure it out"
"Ma'am, I think the girls are struggling enough. I know we all want what's best, but I really can be of help in this moment. We'll keep this between us and that way no one will still worry unnecessarily"
Izzy's mother started crying at Burak's willingness to help. She grabbed him and held him tightly.
"You're really such a good man" she said through tears.
Burak who wasn't familiar with a Mother's love and comfort like this was taken aback at how comfortable it felt. He finally gave in and hugged her back tightly.
"Ma'am think of it as my way of saying thank you for raising Izzy to be such a wonderful person"
She cried harder at his words and he was starting to feel emotional too. As they stepped back, Izzy's mother completed the forms and Burak signed the other ones. They looked at each other and nodded in a agreement at completing it all.
"I really have no words of how grateful I am to you"
"Ma'am it's really fine and we're all family. Just please let's not tell Izzy, she will be stubborn and want to pay me back"
She laughed at Burak's fear of Izzy.
"You really know my daughter well. It's ly fault, I raised them too independently that they sometimes feel like they can't ask for help even if they really struggling.."
"It's a good thing ma'am. The world is cold and cruel, so best to be able to fend for yourself if you can"
She smiled sweetly at Burak and as they were chatting their conversation was interrupted.
"Mother, I'm home.."
A rugged looking woman with frizzy loose hair and loose fitting clothing said. She looked quite worn out and in a bad mood.
"Emma?!" Izzy's mother said surprised at her appearance.
"Yes.." she replied with a cold expression on her face.
Burak looked at her and could sense there was a demeanor about her that might make things a bit difficult.===========================
