"Are you hungry?" Serkan asks.
He had been over at Izzy's home for a few hours now. Having overheard Izzy's mother and Daisy speaking about Izzy's discharge at the hospital, he knew he had an opportunity to step in. Originally he planned to go to the hospital to visit Izzy's parents to get more information on the surgery and also to low key see if Izzy was there. Over the short time he had come to know her, he saw what a devoted daughter she was and how much value she places on family.
It had been different for Serkan growing up, as his family didn't have much and when the opportunity to send him overseas arose they seized it without asking much of his opinion. He used his hurt as fuel to endure until he made a name for himself. After achieving a good social status and financial status abroad, his mother had been pressuring him to return home and marry into a business family to elevate their social status, but he refused. Now seeing what a good daughter Izzy was made him have mixed emotions regarding what family is or should be.
"Yes, I am a little bit," Izzy replied cheery , but her eyes were somber.
"Do you want me to order take out?" Serkan offered.
"Hmm, anything will do" she said.
They came inside after spending some much needed time in the garden. Serkan could see that besides being exhausted, Izzy wasn't her usual self. He wasn't sure what it was , but he knew he needed to find out the details soon to plan ahead.
"Do you guys want some tea?" Daisy offered.
"Yes please! " they both yelled.
"Serkan we don't have Turkish tea left, would you be okay with the usual black tea?" Daisy said.
"A kitchen without Turkish tea?! A sin! I'm just joking! Anything will do " he joked.
Daisy wasn't used to being in Serkan's presence much, but sometimes he seemed so harmless. She chuckled at his reply and then started preparing the mugs for tea.
"Where's Emma?," Izzy asked ashamedly, thinking about the their last heated interaction.
" I'm not sure actually... She was on calls most of the day" Daisy said.
As they were casually chatting, Serkan's phone kept vibrating and he kept ignoring it.
"Why don't you answer it? It could be important if they contacting you so persistently" Izzy said.
He reluctantly excused himself then stepped outside to check his phone. Earlier he saw a bunch of messages from Emma, but didn't want to ruin his time with Izzy by reading it. Seeing all her calls and messages he was already annoyed and called her back discreetly.
"What is it? Why do you keep calling me?" he snapped.
"Change of plans! I need you to get rid of her for the time being" Emma said coldly.
"Are you out of your mind?! We never discussed something like this!," he said softly through gritted teeth.
"I don't care! Desperate times call for desperate measures. If you're not willing to do it then I will sort it out myself," she threatened.
Serkan got so annoyed at Emma's constant scheming , initially they were working together, but now he had second thoughts due to her being deceitful.
"Fine! How do you want to do this?" he asked.
" You're probably still at my home right now. Let's meet at this spot in 30 minutes and we can discuss in detail"
Before he could decline, she had already hung up and texted him the place where to meet.
