"Yildez Bey, any news yet?"

"Not yet sir, I'll call the private investigator shortly"

"Thanks (sigh)... I wish we can get the information soon , so that I can call off this ridiculous engagement" Burak said.

"Be patient sir, we almost at the finish line. So let's ensure everything goes well" Yildez advised, as he could see Burak was stressed out.

"I'm really trying, but feels like time is dragging and playing along to this is torture to me. The other evening at family dinner, I had to control myself because my blood pressure was rising due to all the pretentious talk of my mother and Miss Aydin. It even irritates me further, when Miss Aydin tries to show affection and touches me without my consent" Burak complained.

"Sir, you really have become more open during this time. You would usually keep these things to yourself and pretend nothing affects you, but you have changed"

"Yeah, I have to agree with you on that! Actually, I just feel really lost and also terrified that things might not work out. Some nights , I wake up in a panic just the thought of losing Izzy forever. In business I can make decisions with my eyes closed and some are ruthless, but still the right decision for the company. However, in love ....I really become a blind fool , who has no clue how to even fix this when it blows over"

As Yildez and Burak were talking, Yildez phone rang and it was the private investigator. Burak quickly signed off some documents for a staff member , while he impatiently waited for Yildez to finish the call.

"Sir, there's quite a lot going on that I need to brief  you about" he said in serious tone.

Burak looked at Yildez nervously, wondering what the news would be. Then Yildez briefed him on Izzy's father waking up and what all happened at the recovery center. Serkan's business being targeted by First Lady and the damage being quite severe. Also, about Daisy leaving, Emma being spotted back in town, but hasn't made any move yet.

"Hmm... quite alot  has been going on" Burak said.

"And..." Yildez hesitated whether to share this.

"And what? Don't keep me in suspense!"

"According to the tabs we are keeping on Dr Fletcher and Izzy... Apparently both sides parents seem to think they would make a suitable couple for marriage"

Burak spat out his Turkish tea that he was taking a sip on.

"Are you kidding me??! We haven't even broken up properly or for long. How... I mean.. Ugh!!" Burak was upset.

"Sir you knew that this would be hard, that is why I told you to speak to Izzy Hanim before taking this route. Also, remember the call you told me about the other night when we went drinking? You said harsh things to her..." Yildez reminded him.

"I know...but... I mean , it's all for show and to make the plan look legit" Burak tried to defend himself.

"But Izzy Hanim doesn't know that... So right now of course she might seek comfort somewhere else" Yildez covered his mouth after blurting that out.

"Hey! Izzy is an independent woman! She does not need comfort from someone else... I think! Offff! Why is love so hard?" Burak whined.

Just then Burak's phone rang and he was surprised at who it was calling.

"I don't recall us being friends.." Burak said.

"We're more than just friends.." Serkan replied.

"What do you want?" Burak said bluntly.

"You speak harshly just like your mother.." Serkan spat.

"Are you calling just to piss me off? Because then I'll hang up"

"Fine, I'll behave! I'm calling to make a deal with you"

"You must be joking! I already know about your sinking business and how severe the damage is. So you are in no position to offer me a deal"

"If you already know then you probably already know who is the one doing the damage?"

"Your affairs with my mother has nothing to do with me!" Burak said.

"Are you not curious why she wants to get rid of me?" Serkan asked.

"No, not really.."

"Trust me, I think you would want to know..."

Serkan's words and cocky attitude made Burak a bit curious about what he was hinting to.

"Tell me what do you want in exchange? Because I know your information is not free" Burak said.

"I want 5% shares in the family business..." Serkan requested.

"Are you on drugs or something? I'm not giving away shares for a small piece of information about you and my mother"

"Let me give you a little preview , then you can decide whether you want to listen further or not"

"Ok..."

Serkan then went on to tell Burak how First Lady was not his real mother and also how they were related. He then went further to tell him how their biological mothers died in an accident and how both of them landed up in the orphanage. Burak stood in shock, listening to Serkan speak, he felt numb listening to it.

"So, is the preview worth it?" Serkan sneered.

"Olamaz! (Impossible)" Burak yelled out in shock.

"If you don't believe me then ask your people to check it out. Some of the information might be concealed, but I can send you the orphanage name and you will see I'm not lying"

"Why are you telling me this now?!"

"Because I have been so immersed in my own greed that I have lost my way. Everything happening today is because I wanted to bully others to get what I want. I still don't like you, but my hatred towards First Lady is more. Also, you're just a puppet, you barely know what's happening in the background the last few years" Serkan said.

"If you're telling the truth, we can make a deal"

"Super! I'll be back in Turkiye in two days and then we can discuss in detail. Also, you might want to do your homework because your little engagement has more thorns around it than you know. Free tip, check your current directors recent movements.." Serkan advised.

The call ended and Burak fell back into his chair, Yildez looked at him expectantly, but he couldn't speak. He wasn't sure if he was in shock, angry or just downright confused about what he had just heard.

"So closer to the end, things will become clearer..." he mumbled to himself.
