13 days post invasion
It was early in the afternoon when Carol pushed open the door to the med bay.
"Knock knock. Is Leo up?" She questioned, her voice quiet, just in case the turtle was still out. Casey nodded, standing up from his chair next to the medical bed. "Yes ma'am! Just gave him his meds, too!"
Leo smiled sleepily "mmmmmhmm... Hey Mom."
Carol chuckled softly, shaking her head, watching as Casey said his goodbyes before heading out. "It's time to change your dressings, sweety."
Leo hummed and nodded, slowly sitting up, letting Carol up onto the bed, behind him.
"Let me know if anything hurts.." The woman instructed.
"Pshh- You can't hurt me." Leo insisted, smiling.
"Leo..."
"Really!" He smiled. "If I lived through this whole situation, I'm pretty sure I'm invincibl-" Leo's eyes widened as a wrapping pulled at one of his wounds as it was pulled off. He hissed loudly and closed his eyes tightly as he hugged the stuffed bear Raph had gifted to him.
"Sorry, sorry!" Carol quickly apologized, applying a new, clean plaster onto Leo's carapace. "I'm almost done- Hang on just a little longer for me, okay..?"
"..." Leo sighed softly, looking down at the mattress. "I.. I really thought I was going to die..." He hesitantly looked over at the human, tears filling his eyes. "You know..?
Carol frowned and opened her arms. "Come here, Baby."
The slider sniffled and wasted no time as he quickly hugged her, hiding his face in the crook of Carol's neck. "I-I was ready to-"
Carol shook her head and gently wrapped her arms around Leo, shaking her head. "Shhh... It's okay.. You're alive. Relax..." She whispered softly to him.
Tears rushed out of the teen's eyes, his body shaking as he sobbed. "I was so scared." He whimpered.
"It's over... You're home now" Carol sighed. "You can rest now.." She reassured him.
Donatello had been walking past, on his way to the kitchen, when he heard his twin's whines. He tensed and stopped in his tracks, looking over towards the closed doors. He instantly frowned.

"Absolutely not." Donatello stood in the kitchen, glaring daggers at Draxum, who was simply helping someone unpack.
"Listen, if you don't like it, you can go find a different surgeon who just so happens to be experienced in working on scientifically and magically enhanced beings." The warrior scientist stood his ground. This was the only way they could help Leo at the moment.
"She just said she only has half of a degree!" Donnie argued, pointing at the pine marten, who was simply digging through her supplies.
"Hey now-" She began. "I said I have 2/3rds of a degree. Don't sell me short. Pretty sure that's more than what you have, kiddo!" She chuckled, turning back away from the turtle, who was angrily gesturing towards her. "Besiiiiiides, I have years of on-the-job experience! It'll be fiiiine."
Draxum sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Look, this is the best we can get. Carol will be supervising her, anyways."
"FFFINE." Donnie walked over and pointed his finger right in the face of the yokai, who had just pulled out a bone saw. "But if you hurt my brother, you will regret it. That's a promise. He snarled.
"Oki doki! It was nice meeting you!" The doctor smiled, her sharp teeth showing.
"Ugghhh, okay. Carol says she's ready for you, Margo."
"Yay!"
_______________
Carol held up the tray of different tools, as Margo spoke, her mask slightly muffling her voice. "- So anyways, by the time we got this guy's spleen out, it was basically ready to burst!" Despite her chattering, she was rather focused on working on Leo's knee. "I've never had such a mess in my OR before!" She chuckled "Well, actually, there was this one time with Big Mama's champion, who had just gotten done fighting this giant moth yokai, and-"
The human cleared her throat, grabbing Margo's attention. "Dr. Crobar, was it?"
Margo smiled and nodded. "Yep!"
Carol sighed softly "That's all really interesting- But can you tell if Leo is going to make a good recovery?" She questioned, setting the tray down in its place.
"Oh- Yes! Of course! As long as he's not an idiot."
Carol simply nodded, looking over the unconscious teen. "We can work with that."
