"Good morning, Mikami-san."
"It's morning sure…not sure you're using that adjective correctly though…"
"I mean, it's good for me…couldn't care less about yours though. A promise is a promise after all."
"You're getting too cheeky, you little shit."
"I'm 16."
"Point?"
"Arghh."
Such was the bland interaction between me and Tachibana at eight in the morning, on a Saturday.
A fucking Saturday.
What was I thinking?
I made a promise to her over LINE to begin her training on Saturday morning, I primarily said it then because I was tired and wanted the conversation to end as soon as possible. Now it's biting me in the ass.
Now here we were, standing in an abandoned park that was located in an out of sight place, looking around, all the amenities had fallen out of order. The only remaining reminder of the park's active days being the outdoor bench over in the center. It sat there, as if in defiance of the deterioration that was invited by the inevitable passing of time in conjunction with human negligence.
Respect.
"Mikami-san, I feel like you've gone on another meaningless mental tangent. It's quite annoying, I'll have you know."
"It's not hurting you though, you're just being dramatic."
"It is, you got my hopes up with the whole 'breaking the laws of physics' thing. I won't be happy when my enlightenment is delayed because you were admiring a bench."
"How did you even…?"
"You're not exactly hard to read, you had this look on your face that screamed 'I'll die for that bench'"
"...okay.. moving on."
This girl's intuition is off the charts, I feel like lying to her would end in utter failure if I tried.
Well, I can't remain here forever, it's time to get this over with.
"Now, I've told you this before but for my own convenience I'll reiterate. The energy is called magicules, really fancy stuff, toxic to humans. Get that?"
I feel like that was a comprehensive enough explanation, though by the look on her face she didn't seem to think so.
"Well, no actually. Can you be more specific?"
"Okay, so remember this well. It may seem conceited of me or arrogant, but what you hear from me is the most accurate information you will ever get, trust me. What I teach you is most definitely the best way of utilizing magicules."
My sudden declaration had her confused, but she recovered quickly.
I had to say this now, she was in the early stages of development and I didn't want her foundations to be messed up. There was a chance she would have a run in with one of those self important idiots.
Those people are really bad at using magicules, not to mention the extra energy consumption they suffer from their misguided efforts to conceal magic from the normal humans.
Whoever started that trend must have been stupid as hell.
Speaking of self importance, how is Sakurai Hana doing right now?
I have this feeling that I'll soon be dragged into some big thing soon…
"I understand. I'll trust you."
