It was a typical afternoon in the capital city of Tempest, Rimuru.
Chaotic, yet peaceful. It was an odd instance of equilibrium that could only be achieved by a race so naturally inclined towards chaos, but utterly removed from any reason to act on such instincts.
This was a monster’s ideal version of peace.
The streets were filled with rowdy characters, ogre children butt heads in nearby open areas, laughing all the way, seeing no problem in their odd choice of sport.
Street vendors haggled jovially with their bargain-inclined customers, finding the activity fun despite its redundancy. Humans could be spotted at various parts of the city, blending in perfectly as if they belonged.
Which they did, according to the ruling Demon Lord.
It was almost utopian, as far as one was willing to stretch it.
Overall, all was well with the Jura Tempest Federation.
“Ahh, I feel like my lord will soon return.” A voice, quivering with fanatical intensity, rang out within Tempest's City Hall.
“Hm? You can tell that?” Another voice, clear and thick, but ultimately nonchalant, asked.
It was obvious that its owner wasn't fully invested in the conversation.
“Of course, Lord Veldora. Surely you can feel it too.” Diablo, who for some reason had been sticking around Veldora since Rimuru had left the Cardinal World, smirked as he addressed the True Dragon.
Veldora, eyes focused on the manga in his released a sigh.
“Don't act cocky, you've been bothering me for a while now just so you could follow me if I decided to go to Rimuru, haven't you?”Veldora wasn't really in the mood to deal with his sworn friend's insane subordinate, and trying to intimidate the demon wouldn't do much of anything. He even contemplated just erasing the guy, but he'd come back immediately anyway, so that was futile as well.
“How insightful, Lord Veldora. You truly are my lord's brother.”
“Hahh…” Veldora sighed in resignation, realizing that he hadn't made it past a singular panel for the entire duration of ten minutes that Diablo had been speaking. He closed the manga, already accepting that he wouldn't enjoy anything while this fanatic was around.
He had decided not to crash Rimuru's vacation as he always did, seeing as Luminus was with him this time around.
He didn't have any consideration for her feelings, of course. But he was aware that Rimuru wasn't the same.
He'd most likely be sent back so as to not sour the vampire's mood, and Veldora wasn't someone particularly invested in futile actions.
“Hm?” Veldora felt Rimuru suddenly appear in the Cardinal World. He had tried to perfectly conceal himself, but those efforts didn't extend to the soul corridor.
Veldora quickly deduced the reason for this sneaky behavior, and decided not to let any information slip to the demon standing behind his couch, who was still going on and on about Rimuru.
But alas…
“Oh? Lord Rimuru has returned!”
“How did you know!?” Veldora retorted immediately, feeling creeped out by the demon.
“Kehehe, Lord Veldora still has so much to learn..” Diablo smirked as he waved his index finger back and forth in front of Veldora.
It didn't take long for the Dragon to realize that there was another reason for the demon's proximity to him.
