Gathered in the waiting area, everyone stands with their masks, extravagant dresses, lavish tuxedos, and beaming smiles. The soft lighting from the chandeliers cast a shadow on their faces, painting them a golden color that accentuates their features. Their chatters are filled with joy and excitement as the waiting brings impatience to resurface.

It's a few minutes till seven and the anticipation becomes greater. With every camera flash, the more the enjoyment and euphoria is felt. The outside world has vanished and only the opulent surroundings matter. That is until the arrival of an unexpected pair diverts their attention and places it onto them.

Walking in a refined manner, Mia and Edward enter hand in hand. The mask shields their eyes but even then, it's undeniable how breathtaking they look. Their poise is both regal and valiant, matching their given nature that outshines the others.

Everyone was thinking the same thing. Were they now together? Was the most eligible bachelor finally taken? How could it have been possible?

Mia stops shortly, not bothering to care for the looks received. She glances over at Edward and is relieved when finding he's already doing so. It doesn't matter if everyone is whispering and taking in the sight of them together, only being here with him does. She's attending her first dance with her best friend. What more could she ask for?

Like a mere coincidence, the doors to the ballroom finally open. Everyone enters like a herd of sheep and just like the waiting area, it's as equally decorated in an extravagant way. The ornate ceilings have various chandeliers hanging from it, veils are falling from the skies, lots of greenery is all around, and the marble floors are shining brighter than the stars.

"Mia!"

She follows the voice and smiles when seeing Bella heading to them. Her dress is a royal blue and around her shoulders is a cream cardigan. Her brown waves are placed into a half-up, half-down style and beside her is Jacob, who's dressed in a white dress-shirt with a blue tie that matches Bella's dress and mask.

"Am I dreaming or is that you, Bella?" Mia leaves Edward's side and excitedly runs towards her friends. "You both clean up nicely!"

Jacob chuckles and gives a twirl with open arms, "I know. I look hot, but Bella is looking like an absolute dream."

Bella's face turns a bright crimson as she nervously tucks a strand of her hair behind her ear. She notices Edward standing a couple feet away and smiles at Mia when realizing they came together, "So are you and him together as just friends or-"

"Just friends," she cuts her off with haste, making Bella narrow her eyes in suspicion.

Jacob scoffs, "I hope so, because you can do so much better than him."

Mia's joyful attitude becomes replaced by irritation. She's well aware of how much Jacob despises Edward with a passion, and guesses it must be due to the legends. All those conflicts about wolves and vampires being mortal enemies since birth have never been something she understood. They're both a part of the supernatural, so it shouldn't matter what kind they are.
