Mia loves competition. In fact, she lives for it. Whenever there's an opportunity to display her competitive side, she would gladly take it in a heartbeat.

Whether it'd be competing with Hermione on who would get a higher grade, competing with the Weasley twins on who can form a much more elaborate prank, or even competing with Harry on who can cast a Patronus quicker, it's safe to say she's never been afraid of a little fun.

Living in Forks made her suppress that side of her and it's not like she can try out for volleyball since there's apparently no available spots. She can't compete with anyone on who gets the better grade since no one in Forks High seems to care. Using her magic is off the table, so the only excitement she gets is from watching sports games on television and living vicariously through the players.

When Edward told her they would be playing baseball with his family, she was excited to say the least. It would be the first time she'd be involved in an exciting expenditure. Yes, she may not be able to keep up with the vampire family, but it doesn't mean she can't play some part in it.

"Seems your love for sports carried on," Mia places her baseball cap on and adjusts a few of her fallen locks into place while Edward drives Emmett's jeep deep into the forest. "Hope you're as skilled at this like you were in Quidditch."

He scoffs and turns to her in bewilderment, "I might not remember my past life, but I can assure you that I'm quite amazing at baseball."

"Hmm," she hums in thought for a moment with a teasing smirk. "I'll have to be the judge of that, but it looks like it's going to rain. Wouldn't that affect the game?"

"On the contrary," Edward smiles at the gray clouds becoming more prominent as the faintest thunder rumbles from afar. "We can only play whenever there's a thunderstorm approaching."

She narrows her eyes in curiosity, "Why?"

"You'll see."

His cryptic response makes her much more anxious to get there. She taps her foot excitedly and looks out the window, noticing the waterfall getting closer and the sound of its waters becoming increasingly louder.

He makes a turn into a winding path that takes them into a vast field that's perfect for a game of baseball. She could only wonder why the thunder is needed, but not knowing is what makes this much more exciting.

Edward comes to a stop and opens the passenger door for her. He removes his jacket, revealing a white baseball shirt that has a gray long sleeve underneath. She has to admit, it looks incredible on him that it's challenging refraining from kissing him at this moment, but his family is literally a couple feet from them.

"I know how competitive you can be, so I need you to promise me you'll be on your best behavior," Edward tells her and she pretends to be offended by placing a hand against her heart.
