The silent hum of the night was replaced with chirping birds hiding in the leaves of the Keyaki trees before it flew to the open air.

So far, the brown-haired's journey in the outside world was filled with trials. He went through ups and downs. He gains and then he loses. He tried to manipulate the uncontrollable called fate, yet he could only bend it a little.

Everything always goes his way back in that colorless facility. And now, Ayanokouji's gradually going with the flow.

He was never afraid of any consequences in his actions, as long as his mind was set nevertheless. But the case was different if he acted with his heart-no, driven by his emotions, he failed to comprehend how the illogical decisions that blatantly carried huge drawbacks by which he conceived as foolish, naturally made him do it.

One of those cases happened the other day. He was confident in his composure - being looked at with various strong feelings such as worship and hatred, he never cared for those worldly thoughts - yet he almost made a big mess outside of the dormitory building.

Class C going after him someday to settle the score was always in his calculation for his participation back at the proceeding. He also grasped their leader's personality, being sneaky plus a calculative person, who would avoid making a scene out in the open; especially when he wouldn't gain anything from the situation. But Ayanokouji instigated the brawl himself. Only because a certain classmate, all of sudden, tried to mess with him.

Fortunately, Kushida's presence snapped him back. Her delicate touch as she tightly hugged his arm to stop him from moving, cleared up the thick fog inside of his mind.

He was always the one who did the saving. He lent the others a helping hand. He reached out to them in any form of assistance.

And now, he ended up being saved from the person he called annoying, nevertheless.

The brown-haired turned his head towards the girl who was lively chatting with her friends.

"Why does it feel like it's too much of a coincidence..." he muttered under his breath.

"Why the long-face, Ayanokouji-kun?" Horikita glanced at him then she followed his gaze. "Does Kushida-san keep bothering you?"

He sighed again then shifted his gaze to his side, glancing outside of the window.

"She always does, Horikita, it's nothing new." He replied naturally as it almost happened on a daily basis.

"Can't argue with that." The black-haired was easily convinced. She turned her face to him, then slightly tilted her head for a better look. "By the way, is it just me or the two of you grew closer with each other?"

Horikita's statement made his eyebrows furrowed, showing a couldn't believe expression. "Stop with the jokes."

"I'm not kidding, okay," she denied. "I just noticed that you have been treating her softer than before."

He sighed, "So giving someone a cold shoulder is now soft? Your older brother really set up a standard."

Ayanokouji was planning to trail it off but Horikita continued the conversation. "Well, you still avoid her within your capabilities, but when she caught you, you wouldn't try to resist."

"It's a total waste of energy trying to deal with her all of the time, y'know." he rested his chin into his palm. "As long as I'm not harmed, I'm fine with it."

"Sure," she stopped probing him.

The brown-haired was genuinely caught-off guard by her series of remarks and secretly thread each one of it.
