After Ayanokouji stepped out of the student council office. He didn't go straight back to his room, instead, he let his feet drag him toward a particular spot.
Below the staircase was dimly lit. The corridors narrowed in each step. The pathway outside stretched longer than it should.
Turning to a corner, Ayanokouji finally arrived at the back of the gymnasium. It was still fresh on his mind when he had been here—his first meeting with a certain pink-haired girl.
“Found you,” Ayanokouji muttered.
Both arms wrapped around her legs, Ichinose’s long pink hair fell to the ground, and her uniform was dirtied by dust.
Hearing a familiar voice. Ichinose lifted her head, eyes still red with tears dried out below.
Her eyes widened, she immediately stood up. Only for her knees to tremble—slowly falling to the ground.
But before she could. A strong arm wrapped around her waist and another caught her reaching hand.
Ichinose slowly opened her eyes, a pair of amber glowed, gazing above hers.
“Are you okay?”
Her heart faltered. She swore to bury her feelings… but as days went on, it was slowly dug out from her heart.
Ichinose wished time would have stopped.
Still, she dismissed that thought and stabilized her footing.
“... Yes,” she answered. “Thank you.”
Ayanokouji simply nodded, stepping back a few steps away from Ichinose.
Recalling how far he had previously stood. Ichinose's heart started beating faster.
‘This is the second time Ayanokouji-kun has saved me!’
She noticed his breathing was normal—no sign of strain. Even at the library back then.
Ayanokouji's intelligence. Physical ability. Strength.
Ichinose honestly felt Ayanokouji could do anything.
Her purple-gradient eyes brimmed with admiration. To the point Ayanokouji found it baffling for her quick change of behavior.
It took a moment for Ichinose to regain her senses. Her eyes widened, her cheeks burning wrapped through her hands—imagining her expression while staring at him.
Ayanokouji furrowed his brow. “Are you really okay? I can bring you to the infirmary.”
Sighing under her breath. Ichinose shook her head.
She giggled. “I’m totally fine, Ayanokouji-kun.”
Lines of orange-hue pass through the tall wall, casting away the shadows wrapped around the place.
Ayanokouji just nodded.
Staring again at his calm and indifferent visage. Ichinose stepped forward, her feet light as they carried her toward Ayanokouji.
She lowered her head and leaned down into his chest.
“How did you know?”
Ayanokouji just stood still, he answered. “I just know.”
There was no need to elaborate—No, Ichinose's question was irrelevant. She didn't care about any answer, all she needed was someone to lean on.
If this was the previous Ayanokouji, he would certainly misread the atmosphere. Fortunately, he had learned something from the past.
