29) Toman

"[Mispronounced Y/n]?"

"Ah, Mikey. You're here too, Draken," Y/n said as she reached the top of the stairs of the shrine. You were trailing behind Baji, still iffy about this proposal and you felt like you were forgetting something.

"Yeah, Baji called us," Draken replied, glancing at said ravenette. They stared each other down as you watched, your head tilting down and unconsciously moving to brace for a fight. Mikey took note and watched your eyes narrow. She seems different, he thought. More on edge.

Draken and Baji grinned as they clasped hands. "Well, what'd you want to talk about?" Draken asked, pulling away. You relaxed a little.

"It's about Y/n." Baji motioned with his head. "Let her stay with Toman for a while." The captain and vice-captain stiffened as they turned to you. "I'm watching over her until she gets back on track."

Draken's eyes narrowed as he stepped closer to you. "Don't tell me you went through with it?" he asked, an edge in his voice.

Your eyes darken as you shake your head. "We actually made up. This is different, though," you answered.

Draken sagged as he sighed. "Well, I'm glad it's not that."

"So, what happened, [Mispronounced Y/n]?" Mikey asked. Your expression darkened as you stared at the ground. "I guess you can say I've lost my anchor," you replied. Or anchors. "And I don't know what to do or how to act." Mikey stared as he mused over your answer. "But Baji helped," you add as you glanced at him. Mikey smiled as he patted your shoulder.

"The Tokyo Manji Gang will watch over their big sis until she finds herself again," he announced.

Baji grinned as he watched. Mikey held out his hand, but before he could say anything, your voice filled the silence.

"Are you sure about this?" You held your arm nervously as you looked away. "Mikey, I'm not just some normal fighter. I've been conditioned to kill if need be, and when I'm pushed to the edge or snap, it comes out naturally." You glanced at Baji as his eyes widened in realization. "It's happened before, and I had to be knocked out in order to stop."

"That's what the old man meant," Baji gritted. Draken and Mikey perked as they turned him. "She's talking about what happened during a spar between us. It was back when she was injured," Baji supplied.

"You don't have to worry too much. Toman isn't as weak as others," Draken said as he stepped forward. "We'll get you under control." He smiled, patting your head. "Besides, our leader is the undefeated Manjiro Sano," he added.

"Just trust us, 'kay?" Mikey held out his hand again. You hesitated for a split second before clasping his hand. He gave you a close-eyed smile. "Welcome to Toman."

Y/n and Baji stood before the 1st Division as they glanced around. Whispers filled the area as they wondered who the h/n-ette was.

"Alright, everyone is here, Baji sir." You glance at the newcomer, your eyes turning to Baji.

"Is this..?" He perks up before smirking. "Yeah, that's him," he answers. Your dull eyes brighten momentarily. Blue-green eyes shift to you, curiosity flashing across them.

"Chifuyu, I want you to meet Y/n," Baji introduces before turning to you. "You're finally meeting the vice-captain of the 1st Division of the Tokyo Manji Gang!" You blinked at Baji, noticing the proudness in his voice.

"It's nice to meet you, Y/n," Chifuyu says as he bows in respect. "It's nice to finally meet you too, Chifuyu," you reply, smiling softly. He blinks before grinning. "Ya know this is the first time Baji's brought a girl over," he says playfully, raising his brows at his captain.

Baji glares. "The hell you say? She's taken already, numbskull," he scoffs as Chifuyu sweats slightly. "Sorry, Baji-san."

Baji turns to the crowd, and you can't help but notice the way his face shifts to a cold and serious expression.

"Alright, listen up. She'll be with us starting today." He grins as he shoves his hands into his pockets. "Don't take her lightly, ya hear?"

"Yes, Captain!" They shout in union, hands folded behind their backs.

"You're all dismissed." Baji turns away from the group, but two of them break away from the crowd. "Wait, Captain!" Chifuyu glances down at the two as they bow. "I beg you to reconsider!" Baji blinks before turning around fully, hands in his pockets. "Huh?" he asks coldly.

"Y-you see...she attacked us!" he shouts, pointing at you. "We stood up against her because she bullied a member of Toman!" the other shouts.

Chifuyu glances at you as Baji turns to you. Y/n didn't react other than tilting her head. "Who?"

The two guys fumed as they got in your face. "How dare you forget! You're asking for it, worthless bitch!"

You don't react as a memory tickles your consciousness. "Don't tell me you were one of the guys I beat up in that alley a while back?"

"You bet we are! I told you; you'll have to deal with all of Toman if you come after one of us!"

"But weren't you the ones who came after me? Even in the classroom," you ask, glancing at the guy from the best-friend fiasco Lila had stirred up.

"You were the one bullying your best friend."

"And I told you that we were never friends. So, you picked a fight with me for no reason," you state as you step forward. "I don't mind doing it again if it helps."

Chifuyu's eyes widen from the sudden malice that emitted from you, even Baji sensed it. "Ok, I think that's enough, you two," Chifuyu intervenes and steps between you. "Why don't you run along if you know what's good for you," Baji adds. "And don't bring up such nonsense again," he scoffs.

"Y-yes captain. Forgive us!"

Baji sighs as he turns to you. "You good, Y/n?" You just nod and walk away. Baji sighs again as he scratches his head. "Man, this'll be harder than I thought if there are more idiots like those two."

"Don't worry too much, Captain," Chifuyu says reassuringly. "I'm sure Y/n won't go that far."

"I sure hope not."
