I walked out my door, feeling confident but somewhat nervous. Today was the day, I was going to tell him. 

"Someone looks happy. I thought school was still going on," Noah observed.

"Well, I'm just in a good mood." 

"Well, I guess you're going to have a really good day, because look what came in the mail today." He replied as he held up a letter. 

I rolled my eyes at him. "Noah, I'm really getting tired of this. I know Dad has 'blessed' us with a hundred dollars a month. I know-" 

"No, you dimwit. The letter is from Cornell University-" Before he could finish, I jumped up and snatched the letter from his hand. 

"Oh my God really?" He nodded at me. I gulped, my hands sweating as I grabbed the letter. I stared at it for a couple seconds and then nervously tore it open. I took a deep breath and then opened the piece of paper. 

"What does it say?" He asked, hovering over my shoulder. I held up my hand to silence him. I frantically skimmed through it, anxious to find their answer. All of my hard work, those past years of being  stick in the mud, was all for this moment. I had reached the end of the letter and gasped in relief. I got in. I got in! 

I slowly turned to Noah who was looking at me expectantly. A smile crept on my face.

"I got the scholarship!" I screamed. "They accepted me!" 

He threw his arms open and wrapped them around me. "Oh my God, Beth! I'm so proud of you! You really deserve it." 

I pulled away. "New York, here I come!" And suddenly it hit me. I was going across the country, and Isaac was traveling around the world. I couldn't tell him.  We would be together for like a month and then have to break up because long distance relationships... don't work out. I felt tears threaten to leave my eyes. 

"What's wrong? Aren't you excited?" 

"I can't tell him."

"I'm so happy for you, Beth!" Eve exclaimed as we walked down the hallways. 

"We got our letters today too!" Kat exclaimed. 

"Was it where you guys were hoping to go to?" 

"Yup, New York here we come!" 

"Yay!! We are all going to be in the same state!" Eve squealed. 

"What about Shaun?" I asked. Kat's expression saddened. 

"He's going to Pen-state." 

"Well, at least he'll be close," I told her.

"Yeah, it's just that-" I put my hand on her shoulder. 

"Let me stop you right there, he's crazy about you. He's not a complete idiot, Kat. He won't cheat," I reassured her. 

"Yeah-"

"Oh my God, Beth. I can't believe we aren't talking about Isaac! You guys are going to be so far apart from each other!" Eve exclaimed abruptly.

"OMG! Did you tell him how you feel yet?" Kat asked. 

"No, I got the letter this morning," I replied with a shake of my head.
