Bethany's mom (Andie Macdowell)

A place couldn't be that big, right? Wrong. I kept stumbling around, turning into one hallways after another. I thought to call Kat, and then realized I left my bag on one of the tables in the ballroom. I had probably been walking for about half an hour when my feet started to ache.

I finally plopped onto the ground, not caring if it was dirty or not. I stretched my feet out in front of me and stared at my red sneakers. I had to think of a way out of that place. I closed my eyes, and leaned my head back against the wall. I should've been freaking out but the alcohol mixed with my lack of sleep fought that off. I was just... so... tired.

"Beth, nothing's wrong with me. I'm going to get better and see you off on your first day of high school. You can count on it."

"Mom, I'm not an idiot. You're sick. You're lying in a hospital bed on a million types of drugs, and your still going to sit there and tell me your fine?"

"Never underestimate the power of positive thinking. Plus -"

"Pity gets you nowhere. Yeah, yeah I know." I said.

"I'm glad you do." she smiled at me. Her dark hair fell to her shoulder. It looked as if it hadn't been brushed in weeks and the circles under her eyes were ridiculously dark. I could tell she hadn't been sleeping properly.

"Ladies and Gentlemen! The man is back!" Noah said as he burst though the door.

"Noah!" I ran up to him and he enclosed me in a hug.

"Hey sis." he said.

"My beautiful baby boy!" My mom said as she threw her arms open. He walked over and hugged her.

"I'm not a baby. Although, beautiful definitely sounds right," He commented.

"So how's college going?"

"It's pretty awesome, you know, except for all the work," He replied.

"So, why are you here? Don't get me wrong, Noah, I love you but shouldn't you be studying or something?" My mom asked.

"My mom is in the hospital and you expect me to sit around studying?" Noah responded.

"You don't -" Before she could finish the ground caved in from underneath her. I yelled for her and looked to where Noah once was. He was gone and I was standing in front a giant hole in the ground. I again began screaming for help, but no one came.

"Beth!"

I woke up to Isaac, inches away from my face.

"What the hell?" I exclaimed as I stood up but then I started to fall again. Isaac caught me and then held me up. The dizziness and pain was back.

"Bethany, what happened?" He asked.

"Um, I uh... I got lost and then I fell asleep, I think?" I said as I held my hand over my head. He immediately moved my hand away and examined my forehead.

"You've got a huge bump on your on your forehead. Come on, let's get you to the hospital."

"Wait, how did you even find me?" I asked confusedly.

"I was looking for the bathroom to hide from my mother when I heard you screaming and followed your voice."

"And no one else heard me?"

"Everyone was inside dancing. Now, come on, we've got to go. I think you have a concussion."

"I don't need a hospital, Isaac. I don't have a concussion, I just had a little alcohol, that's all. I just need to go home." I replied. I pushed his arms away and again tried to stand by myself. I barely managed to stand and started walking away (which wasn't any easier with the dress I was wearing) when I realized I had no idea where I was going. My knees began to buckle when Isaac again came to my aid.

"Bethany, you don't even know where you're going." I hated looking so vulnerable but I couldn't even stand up by myself. The pain quickly escalated so I let him hold me upright and lead me back to the ballroom.

"What about Serena?" I asked guiltily.

"She got in a real bitchy mood about something, got mad at me, and then left," he answered casually.

"You really are a colossal dick," I said and then tried to push his arms away. I leaned my back against the wall for support and continued to walk.

"Beth, you're going in the wrong direction," he said as he pointed down one of the hallways. I rolled my eyes and changed my direction.

"You look like an idiot, here, let me-"

"No, I don't need help from you." I cut him off. He immediately picked me up and threw me over his shoulder.

"Put me down!" I yelled at him, using all my force to pound against his back.

"I will, as soon as we get back to civilization," He said calmly. My legs were to weak to kick him so I continued to hit him for the next couple of minutes until we got back to the ballroom.

People turned their heads as he sat me down on one of the chairs and disappeared somewhere on the dance floor. I looked down and saw the ground spinning underneath me. I couldn't focus on anything but the pain. I shifted my gaze back up as I saw Kat running towards me.

"Oh my God! Beth! How are you feeling?" she said as she touched the bump on my forehead. I instantly winced with pain.

"She needs to get to a hospital," Isaac said as he walked up behind her. Kat nodded in agreement.

"You guys need to shut up. I'm fine, I just need to, um, uh..." I couldn't remember what I was going to say and when I did, I couldn't form the words.

"Do you have a ride?" Isaac asked Kat.

"The limo won't be here for another hour!" Kat exclaimed.

"Fine, I'll drive you." he said firmly.

"Wait, what about... your... um... parents?" I struggled to ask.

"I'll text them on the way." Kat said.

"And my mom doesn't really care. Now, come on," Isaac added and then scooped me up in his arms. How cliche.

I tried to think of some way to fight him off, but I couldn't. Actually, I probably could've, but I didn't feel up to the task. My brain felt like it was turning to mush.

The next thing I remembered was waking up in a hospital bed, yelling.
